Job summary

Premium Aerotec seeks an Application Engineer to operate, maintain, and enhance Scientific Computing environments on Linux/RedHat with exposure to HPC scheduling and automation tools. You will work on automation using Bash, Python, and AI tools to improve quality and efficiency, while collaborating with global Airbus engineering and IT teams.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, system design understanding, and experience in product delivery within software environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience in Linux environments (RHEL) with development exposure.
• Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of schedulers in Linux environments.
• Automation using Bash and Python is required.
• Knowledge of AI tools for quality improvements and automation is a plus.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and innovative Application Engineer to operate, maintain, and enhance Scientific Computing managed compute environments. The role focuses on Linux/RedHat platforms with exposure to heterogeneous environments, HPC scheduling, and enterprise-grade automation (Git, Ansible) with experience in AI tools for quality improvements and automation.

Beyond administration, this role requires someone who can challenge the status quo, drive automation, and propose innovative improvements in Scientific Computing environments. The position offers hands-on experience with HPC clusters, interactive services, automation frameworks, and international collaboration with Airbus engineering and IT teams.

Qualification & Experience:

• 8+ years of working experience in IT working on Linux environments (RHEL) with development experience.
• Strong Linux/RedHat system administration skills for Installing, managing Scientific Computing applications and Performance Analysis and debugging real time application execution.
• Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of scheduler platforms in Linux environments.
• Experience with automation using Bash, and Python
• Good understanding of compute resource management (CPU, GPU, memory, storage, licenses), Parallel Processing (MPI), Multithreading and Multiprocessing concepts.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Service Management); certification preferred.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, able to diagnose, reproduce, and resolve complex issues.
• Experience in stakeholder management and user support, with ability to adapt to evolving business processes.
• Familiarity with OS architecture, System Design, SOLID principles and OOP principles.
• Programming skills in Python, Bash and Perl.
• Awareness of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Experienced in working within a product delivery lifecycle in software development.
• Good understanding of server architecture and Engineering applications.
• Knowledge on AI tools (Copilot, Gemini Coding Assistant) for Quality improvement, Automation and Value generation.
• Understanding and experience in Cloud technologies (preferably AWS) and contributing to building cloud ready solutions. (Bonus points if Certified).
• Excellent communication skills to work in a globally distributed team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support for production processing by solving incidents and requests raised by the user community and an ongoing event and alert management.
• Analyze and propose/implement to Improve incident resolution quality.
• Perform incident categorisation/classification & find out critical issues/most popular incidents and do root cause analysis
• Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents & trend analysis for proactive measures
• Write/Update knowledge management articles with incident analysis
• Participate in Agile Development activities and deliver features for fix/improvement of the service
• Apply DevOps and AI tools, culture and mindset for all your activities on a daily basis
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on demand
