Job summary

Merkle in Bengaluru (DGS India) seeks a Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering Engineer with 7+ years of experience to lead manual and automated testing across product developments in BFSI, healthcare, and retail tech services. You will design test plans, execute test cycles, validate REST and SOAP APIs, and mentor junior QA in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners, and analysts, leveraging SQL for data validation, and integrating automated suites

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on requirements.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity tests and provide UAT support.
• Create and maintain regression and integration test suites and test data.
• Identify, analyse, log, track, and report defects using Jira/Azure DevOps/Rally.
• Participate in requirements walkthroughs, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies; contribute to acceptance criteria and quality risk assessments.

Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering (QA/QE) Engineer

Must-Have Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent practical experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering may also be considered.

Key Skills

• Minimum 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering across manual and automation testing.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing lifecycle, defect lifecycle, and software development lifecycle (SDLC/STLC).
• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and executing test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on business and functional requirements.
• Strong experience in functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, system testing, smoke testing, sanity testing, and UAT support.
• Experience in test automation using tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, WebDriver.io, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of API testing using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, REST Assured, or similar.
• Experience working with both RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Strong knowledge of SQL queries for data validation, backend testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test cases and acceptance criteria.
• Experience in identifying, analysing, logging, tracking, and reporting defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or equivalent.
• Strong defect analysis skills with the ability to collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional teams for issue resolution.
• Experience in creating and maintaining regression test suites, integration test suites, and test data.
• Ability to participate in requirement walkthroughs, design discussions, sprint ceremonies, and release planning.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology and experience working in sprint-based delivery models.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate quality risks, test progress, defects, and release readiness.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Experience

• Should have a minimum of 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering.
• Experience working in product development, digital platforms, enterprise applications, BFSI, healthcare, retail, telecom, or technology services environments would be preferred.
• Prior experience in both manual and automation testing is expected.
• Experience in working with distributed teams and stakeholders across business, development, QA, DevOps, and product management teams.

Good-to-Have Qualifications & Skills

• Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation/Advanced Level, Certified Agile Tester, Scrum Master, or equivalent.
• Experience in building or enhancing test automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of BDD/TDD practices and tools such as Cucumber, SpecFlow, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Programming or scripting experience in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or equivalent.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in mobile testing across Android and iOS platforms would be an added advantage.
• Experience with accessibility testing, security testing basics, or cross-browser compatibility testing.
• Domain knowledge in financial services, insurance, healthcare, e-commerce, or SaaS-based platforms would be beneficial.
