Recrew AI, a Bengaluru-based enterprise tech startup, is hiring a Platform Lead for its Platform Pod. You will own core shared services (Auth, Billing, Notifications), the developer experience layer (CI/CD, observability), and governance for bank-regulated deployments.

The company serves 1,500+ enterprises and 100 million individual users. It is certified under SEBI, RBI, and allied frameworks, and is RBI-authorized as a payment aggregator.

With a 90-person team, it is building a flat, rotation-friendly engineering model. Co-founded by alumni of Flipkart and Twitter, and backed by investors including Groww and Rainmatter.

Position Overview

This is a founding role in the company's Platform Pod — a greenfield mandate to build the internal platform that every product team depends on. The Platform Lead will take ownership of core shared services (Auth, Billing, Notifications), the developer experience layer (CI/CD, observability, golden paths), production-access governance, and the deployment model for both cloud and regulated client-side environments including bank-premises deployments. Success is measured by other engineers shipping faster, safer, and with less toil — without ever needing a shell prompt to production.

Role & Responsibilities

• Found and operate the Platform Pod: define the charter, establish the operating model, set org-wide engineering standards, and hire the specialist tracks that make the pod self-sufficient.
• Take phased ownership of Auth, Billing, and Notifications; redesign and expose them as versioned internal products with explicit APIs, SLAs, and multi-product consumption contracts.
• Own the production-access removal program end to end: sequence team-by-team access revocation, and ensure replacement tooling (deployment automation, log access, break-glass workflows) is live and validated before any access is revoked.
• Architect and operate the client-deployment model for software running in bank and regulated customer environments — covering packaging, versioning, upgrade contracts, compatibility boundaries, and remote operability.
• Build and maintain the Developer Experience layer: CI/CD pipelines, environment parity, observability standards, golden-path templates, and documentation infrastructure for a ~40-engineer org.
• Own test-infrastructure strategy across the platform: define coverage standards, tooling choices, and shared test utilities adopted by product teams.
• Partner with product and data teams to evolve data infrastructure reliability toward self-serve and DBaaS-style offerings underpinning payments, identity, e-sign, and compliance products.

Must Have Criteria

• 5+ years of backend and platform engineering experience, with at least one role owning shared or core services consumed by multiple product teams.
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling Developer Experience capability — CI/CD, observability, or internal tooling — for an engineering org of 30+ engineers.
• Hands-on service-extraction or platform-migration experience with migrations delivered on committed dates.
• Experience designing and operating internal APIs with versioning, SLA ownership, and backward-compatibility guarantees.
• Proven ability to lead technical programs spanning multiple teams — production-access governance, deprecation sequencing, or similar cross-cutting initiatives.
• Prior experience in a founding or 0→1 platform/infra role: defined standards, hired for the function, or built a team from scratch.

Nice to Have

• Experience shipping or operating software in customer-controlled, regulated, or air-gapped environments (bank premises, on-prem enterprise deployments).
• Familiarity with fintech, payments, or identity infrastructure domains (UPI, e-KYC, e-sign, or similar regulated stacks).
• Exposure to DBaaS-style internal data platform thinking — self-serve access, schema governance, or data reliability programs.
• Prior work in a flat or rotation-friendly engineering model where platform teams serve as internal product teams.
