Job summary

GE HealthCare in Bengaluru, India, seeks a Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive design, development, validation and optimization of manufacturing processes for vacuum furnaces, brazing, machining and milling. You will lead cross‑functional teams, champion Lean, Six Sigma and NPI readiness, and deliver sustainable process improvements with focus on quality, cost and cycle time.

You will collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Operations to troubleshoot issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in vacuum furnace operations, brazing, machining, drilling, milling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing process design, development, setup, industrialization and validation for new and existing products.
  • Lead product and process change management and maintain SOPs/DMRs/DFRs and PFMEAs.
  • Provide technical leadership for vacuum furnace, vacuum systems, brazing, machining, drilling, milling processes and troubleshooting.
  • Lead equipment qualification, verification, validation, calibration and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Analyze quality trends, lead root cause investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.

As a Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer at GE HealthCare, you will lead manufacturing process development, optimization, validation, and continuous improvement activities within a highly specialized manufacturing environment. This role will provide hands-on technical leadership for manufacturing processes involving vacuum furnaces, brazing, machining, drilling, and milling, with a strong focus on process stability, productivity, quality, and manufacturing readiness. You will partner closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement sustainable process improvements. Your expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology, and project management skills will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence within our organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing process design, development, setup, industrialization, and validation for new and existing products, ensuring robust and repeatable manufacturing processes.

  • Lead product and process change management, including implementation of applicable FMIs and maintenance of manufacturing documentation such as SOPs/Work Instructions, DMRs, DHRs, PFMEAs, process maps, and quality plans.

  • Provide technical leadership for vacuum furnace, vacuum systems, brazing, machining, drilling, milling, and related manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting and process optimization.

  • Lead equipment qualification, verification, validation, calibration, and manufacturing readiness activities to ensure equipment and measuring systems meet process and quality requirements.

  • Analyze product and process quality trends, lead root cause investigations, and drive corrective and preventive actions for internal failures, supplier defects, and customer rejections.

  • Maintain product BOMs, routings, labor hours, cost roll-ups, and related manufacturing data in Oracle; partner with Finance and Operations to maintain product costs within established targets.

  • Drive cycle-time reduction, process simplification, productivity improvement, waste elimination, and product/process cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfer, and VCP projects, providing manufacturing process expertise and innovative solutions to Engineering and Production teams.

  • Drive Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke/error-proofing initiatives, including improvements to jigs, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing processes.

  • Lead manufacturing layout, process-flow design, and optimization to improve productivity, material flow, safety, and effective utilization of manufacturing space.

  • Support the specification, selection, ordering, installation, and management of manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, equipment, and capital assets, ensuring appropriate traceability.

  • Develop and maintain safe manufacturing processes, ensuring applicable safety requirements, assessments, and risk-control measures are incorporated into equipment and process design.

  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations teams to improve process stability, manufacturing capability, product quality, cost, and overall operational performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering , or a related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing/process engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience in manufacturing process development, process optimization, validation, and process control.

  • Experience with vacuum furnace operations, vacuum systems, brazing processes , and related troubleshooting.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities for complex manufacturing and process issues.

  • Demonstrated experience driving corrective and preventive actions, process improvements, and manufacturing productivity initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with equipment qualification, verification, validation, and manufacturing readiness activities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams.

  • Strong experience working with multiple stakeholders is mandatory.

  • Proven experience in managing teams effectively.

  • Preferable experience in the healthcare industry with ISO 13485 certification

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Established project management skills.
