Job description

About Origin

Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team, consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.

Join India's most talent-dense robotics team, consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.

About The Role

Origin plans to build 80 robots in the next 12 months and to scale to 200 units a year. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer owns the path from engineering release to a finished, validated robot. You supervise manufacturing end to end for our electromechanical products: mechanical structures, wire harnesses, electronics assemblies and final integration. You are the main point of coordination between engineering, supply chain and validation. You make sure that each release can be built, each build runs to schedule and each change is controlled.

Key Responsibilities
Release review and process alignment:
  • Review each engineering release before it goes to the floor: design files, drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions and validation protocols. Send redlines and RFIs back to engineering
  • Define and keep the release-to-build process: release checklist, document and revision control, and sign-off owners in engineering, supply chain and validation
  • Align build, inspection and test steps with the validation team, so that each robot ships with complete build and test records
Engineering change control:
  • Own the ECN process end to end: intake, impact review (cost, schedule, inventory, WIP and field units), disposition, effectivity and cut-in
  • Run a regular change review with engineering, supply chain and validation, and close each change on the floor
Build planning and production engineering:
  • Define build and assembly sequences, work instructions and station layouts for mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies and final integration
  • Plan and improve the manufacturing schedule: takt, capacity, line balance, material readiness and technician loading
  • Propose and deliver jigs, fixtures, test rigs and simple automation that cut build time and errors. Give the time and cost case for each
  • Train and qualify technicians on new builds and changes. Keep the training matrix
  • Track yield, rework and first-pass quality. Drive root cause and corrective action with engineering and suppliers
DFM and cost (mechanical):
  • Give DFM and DFA feedback to mechanical engineering early in the design cycle
  • Make should-cost models for machined, sheet metal and fabricated parts. Drive cost reduction through process changes, tolerance changes and design changes
  • Support FAI and process capability reviews with supply chain and supplier QA
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years in manufacturing, production or NPI engineering for electromechanical products
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly (machined, sheet metal and fabricated parts) and electrical assembly (wire harnesses, cable assemblies, PCBA integration)
  • Has owned ECN/ECO and release processes in production
  • Experience with build sequences, work instructions, line balance and jig and fixture design
  • Strong DFM, DFA and costing knowledge for CNC machining and sheet metal. Can read drawings, GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Proven ability to coordinate engineering, supply chain and quality teams and to drive decisions to closure
Preferred Experience
  • Took a complex electromechanical product (for example robots, EVs, drones, medical devices or industrial machines) from prototype to scale manufacturing
  • PLM or ERP tools and structured change management
  • Lean manufacturing, PFMEA and control plans
  • Training and leading technician teams
