Job summary

The Film Market in Hyderabad is seeking a Lead Layout Artist to guide the layout team in storytelling, shot sequence continuity, and presentation within the VFX pipeline for feature films and high-level TV projects.

You will ensure seamless collaboration with modeling and matchmove assets, producing rough shot passes and packages for later stages. Proficiency in Maya is required, with strong leadership and a sharp eye for detail to uphold visual storytelling quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of layout experience in visual effects for feature films or television (required)
• Proven team leadership and supervision skills
• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in the field of arts, film, and/or animation (preferred)
• Advanced software skills in Maya (required)
• Basic to Intermediate skills in 3ds Max, Photoshop, Shotgun, Nuke, and Scripting (preferred)
• Extensive skillset in‑camera animation, staging, and set dressing
• Great sense of presentation via lighting, texturing, and FX
• Solid animation grounding for storytelling purposes
• Background or experience in traditional Fine Arts demonstrating a thorough understanding of framing and composition
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a team player with a great attitude
• Great eye for detail with excellent and consistent quality assurance
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Lead the layout team and manage storytelling, shot sequence continuity and presentation as part of the VFX pipeline.
• Utilize assets from modeling and camera track from matchmove to create rough shot passes and component packages for later departments.
• Camera animation and composition are the primary objective; may create simple animation, lighting, and FX to convey key story points.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency and quality across sequences.
• Mentor and supervise junior artists, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
• Maintain high standards of framing, lighting and visual storytelling throughout layouts.
