Job summary

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead solution architecture and design for Java-based applications; define patterns for API design, data access, and resiliency.
• Team Development: Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, set coding standards, and drive technical excellence.
• Delivery Ownership: Plan and sequence engineering work, unblock teams, and ensure timely, quality releases.
• Back-end Engineering: Design and develop services/APIs using Core Java, Spring, and Hibernate; implement robust error handling, logging, and observability.
• Data Layer: Model, query, and optimise SQL (e.g., MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB/Cassandra) data stores; ensure data integrity and performance at scale.
• Secure File & Data Transfer: Build and maintain secure integrations using SFTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and certificate/keystore management.
• Integration & Interoperability: Consume/publish REST APIs; handle schema contracts, pagination, retries, timeouts, idempotency, and rate limits.
• Quality & Testing: Write unit/integration tests (e.g., JUnit), participate in peer reviews, adhere to coding standards, and support CI workflows.
• Performance & Reliability: Profile/tune hot paths, queries, and connection pools; ensure SLIs/SLOs and proactive alerting.
• Collaboration: Partner with front-end engineers (ReactJS), DevOps, QA, and business stakeholders for delivery in Agile ceremonies; contribute to documentation and handover materials.
• Compliance & Security: Follow organisational policies for secrets management, certificate rotation, data protection, and audit readiness.
