Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Lead Engineer – Conveyance to provide day‑to‑day technical leadership for water and wastewater network projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, perform hydraulic analyses, and contribute to technical proposals while ensuring compliance with client specifications and standards.

The role requires 12+ years in conveyance planning and design, strong leadership, and experience with BIM-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in water and wastewater conveyance planning and design.
• Experience on international infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in hydraulic modelling and network design.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with BIM-enabled project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, modelling, and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Perform hydraulic analyses for water and wastewater networks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (treatment, civil, mechanical, electrical, BIM, GIS).
• Review engineering calculations, drawings, and reports.
• Support project managers in planning, monitoring, and delivering tasks within schedules and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Lead Engineer – Conveyance

As a Lead Engineer – Conveyance, you will provide day‑to‑day technical leadership for water and wastewater network projects and support multidisciplinary project delivery teams.

Role Outline / Responsibilities

Key Duties

• Lead the planning, modelling, and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Perform and review hydraulic analyses for water and wastewater networks.
• Lead development and review of
  • Network layouts and system configurations
  • Pipeline sizing calculations
  • Hydraulic profiles
  • Pumping and rising main assessments
  • Technical reports and design documentation
• Support master planning studies including
  • Demand forecasting
  • Load assessment
  • Capacity assessment
  • Network expansion planning
• Undertake network optioneering and evaluate alternative solutions based on technical, operational, and whole‑life cost considerations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including treatment, civil, mechanical, electrical, BIM, and GIS disciplines.
• Review engineering calculations, drawings, and reports prepared by team members.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, client specifications, and applicable design standards.
• Support project managers in planning, monitoring, and delivering project tasks within agreed schedules and budgets.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and design reviews.
• Contribute to technical proposals, fee estimates, and bid submissions.
• Identify project risks and support mitigation planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Support implementation of digital delivery and BIM‑enabled workflows.
