Job summary

GE Vernova Advanced Research in Bengaluru seeks a Lead Engineer in Power Systems to advance electrification and grid optimization. You will model, simulate, and perform hardware-in-the-loop work for grid-scale and microgrid projects.

Expertise in power system dynamics, transient analysis, protection, and hands-on hardware with real-time simulators such as PSCAD, Matlab/Simulink, Opal-RT, RTDS and DigSilent is required.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Power Systems with atleast 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 7 years of industry experience in an advanced technology development environment with designing, building and testing power systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in power system operation and, power system simulation and analysis, power system dynamics, transients, protection and stability. Understanding of grid energy management systems and optimization.
  • Hands-on hardware design and build experience in power systems experimental set-up with real-time simulators, controllers, power supplies, relays etc. Experience in system simulation tools such as PSCAD, Matlab/Simulink, Opal-RT, RTDS, DigSilent etc.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environment. Unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with both GE Vernova product engineers and Advanced Research team members on technical projects. Work with multi-disciplinary boarder team or independently deliver based on the requirements of project.
  • Represent research through written proposals and oral presentations to business customers and at technical conferences. Use some level of judgment and have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Have access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. Gain an in-depth understanding of key business drivers and use this understanding to accomplish own work, shape collaborations, lead tasks and/or projects.

What you’ll do

As a Lead Engineer, you will:
