Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior HVAC engineer with 15+ years of experience to lead data center HVAC design, feasibility studies and engineering deliverables in Mumbai. You will oversee concept development, option evaluation and BIM coordination for complex projects.

Responsibilities include load calculations, selection of equipment (PAHU/CRAC/AHU), CFD analyses, PUE planning, and documentation such as design basis reports and room books, ensuring ASHRAE and TIA-942 compliance and timely

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with extensive HVAC experience.
  • 15+ years in HVAC design for data centers and related projects.
  • Experience with ASHRAE, TIA-942 standards and lifecycle design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC design for data center projects from concept to detail.
  • Review client specs and ensure design aligns with standards.
  • Perform load calculations and equipment selection (PAHU/CRAC/AHU).
  • Conduct CFD analyses and PUE planning.
  • Prepare design basis reports and room books.
  • Coordinate BIM models and cross‑disciplinary reviews.

Your impact

Roles & Responsibilities

A degree in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with 15+ years of experience in HVAC designing field for Data center project. Candidate should possess knowledge in carrying out basic and detailed engineering work. Candidate should have technical & working knowledge of HVAC designing for Data center, projects.

  • Candidate should have basic knowledge of following would be
  • Conceptualization, preparation of various options meeting minimum the Tier-III plus standard and complying of ASHRAE, latest TIA 942 etc
  • Techno commercial evaluation of various options and recommending / finalizing the option to be adopted for the project.
  • Technology selection for HVAC system consider site.
  • Preparation of TCO for high side and low side equipment
  • CFD analysis for internal and external
  • Preparation of Design Basis Report & Room Book
  • Preparation of Heat load calculations using software like HAPs
  • PUE calculation as per BS ISO IES 30134
  • Preparation of Air flow diagram, Chilled water schematic diagram for generation and distribution
  • Selection of equipment like FWU, PAHU/CRAC units / AHUs, Dehumidifier
  • Preparation of HVAC equipment list including electrical load requirements
  • Preparation of Data sheets / Specifications/SOO & Material Requisition for the various HVAC equipment including BMS
  • Planning / guiding a team of Revit modellers in developing BIM model meeting minimum LOD 100 to 350 requirements during various phases of the projects.
  • Reviewing the model / ensuring quality control on the model / guiding the modellers in extracting layouts from the 3D model like HVAC equipment layout / ducting layouts
  • Preparation of site works tender.
  • Preparation of cost estimation for the HVAC part of the project
  • Procurement assistance like providing technical clarifications, participating pre bid / post bid meeting / technical bid analysis / preparation or order specification.
  • Vendor drawing review.
  • Providing clarification to request for information from site during construction.
  • Visiting sites for residual engineering / resolving site queries
  • Coordination with various stake holders like Client / various internal disciplines like projects / electrical / mechanical / architect / civil / vendors for effective engineering management
  • Ensuring HVAC engineering execution within the budget / on time / meeting the quality set for the project and to the satisfaction of all the stake holders
  • Providing Management Information for the HVAC engineering part of the project
  • Providing information for & Attending Project review meeting / Internal review meetings / Management review meetings
  • Preparation of HVAC engineering effort estimation
  • Knowledge of HSD system with PESO requirements

  • Review technical requirements of client’s specifications and ensure that agreement is reached as per the HVAC basis of design document. Participate in discussions with the client, as necessary.
  • Monitor & check, that the work and progress is in-compliance with the project requirements and schedule.
  • Maintain contact with other disciplines/groups to ensure
  • Project Manager and/or Engineer are aware of problems of progress delays.
  • Highlight any resource issue to documents/drawing/Model deliverable as per schedule.
  • Proper interchange of information.
  • Proper interchange of documents.
  • Interface is correctly defined.
  • A desire to achieve high quality outputs and deliver excellent service.
  • Support to achieve best for project outcomes.
  • Identify and address issues that would impact on desired project outcomes.
