Job summary

FLSmidth in Chennai, India, is seeking an experienced Product Engineer for Filtration to lead hydraulic product development and ensure performance against quality and cost targets. You will design hydraulic systems, create schematics, select components, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and support customers and vendors on-site with travel as needed.

Minimum 10–12 years' experience; BE/B.Tech Mechanical; proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD; understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems;

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of overall professional experience.
• Knowledge and skills with IT tools like SolidWorks and Autocad is expected. Experience in Analysis software will be an added advantage.
• Good knowledge in hydraulic and pneumatic system with design, manufacturing and testing.
• Good Knowledge in handling vendor products associated with the filtration equipment’s.
• Broad knowledge in Manufacturing processes, materials and global quality standards.
• Should be able to lead and work in teams.
• Good in English at 'negotiation level' both written and orally.
• Conceptual thinking, visualization & technical problem solving ability.
• Expected to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
• B.E /B.Tech - Mechanical

Responsibilities

• Lead development and performance of filtration products to meet quality and cost objectives.
• Create detailed hydraulic schematics and power unit/layouts.
• System sizing, component selection, and BOM preparation.
• Test and validate hydraulic systems at vendor and customer sites.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic issues at customer sites.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure proper function of filtration equipment.
• Represent and support global and regional interests per FLSmidth guidelines.
• Travel to meet customers and suppliers for technical discussions, inspections and troubleshooting.

Product Engineering, Filtration

• As a Product Engineer, he/she shall act as hydraulic expert and leads the development and performance of the products to ensure that they are functioning according to quality and cost expectations.
• Applying mechanical engineering principles to develop products (e.g., Filter Press, Vertical Filters, HBF, Drum & Disc Filters Hydraulic Systems etc.)
• System Design & Schematics: Create detailed hydraulic schematics, hydraulic power unit layout, hydraulic manifold layout and overall hydraulic system design.
• Participate in design work and product customization
• Component Selection: Choose appropriate hardware—including pumps, motors, filters, and pressure regulators—based on load and flow requirements. Prepare bill of materials for hydraulic systems.
• System sizing: Determine required power, component size, pump capacity to meet the hydraulic system demand
• Testing & Validation: Perform hands-on testing at vendor and customer sites.
• Troubleshooting: Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting hydraulic issues at customer sites.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to support proper function of FLS filtration equipment
• Represent and support both the global as well as regional interests while ensuring complete compliance on FLS guidelines
• Participates actively in team environment and contribute to successful completion of team goals
• Expect to travel to meet customers & suppliers for technical discussions / inspection / trouble shooting

What you bring
