Job summary

GE Vernova in Hyderabad is seeking a Lead Engineer for SCADA & EDGE to drive requirements, design, and verification of wind-farm level applications, collaborating with global teams to deliver robust, scalable software.

You will develop features in C#, .NET, and Python, containerize algorithms, test on simulated and real turbines, and contribute to product configuration, testing strategies, and cyber security practices. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor's degree in Controls/CS with Renewable Energy emphasis is preferred.
  • Experience in software development (C#, .NET, Python) testing, validation and deployment.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience relevant to wind turbine systems, Industrial SCADA & EDGE systems and control system design.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++/C#, Python, and Renewables SCADA & EDGE platforms.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodology and AI-based software/tools.
  • Hands-on cybersecurity and coding standards experience.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in global teams and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements engineering for new farm-level EDGE applications and analytics for wind-farm level solutions.
  • Design EDGE platform features and analytics algorithms in C#, .NET, and Python; consolidate functional test cases.
  • Verify and validate new apps by running test cases via simulation or real turbines; containerize and deploy on wind farms.
  • Execute analyses and contribute to technological developments in teams under supervision.
  • Support product configuration management, sustaining, and customer support; participate in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with Global Research Center teams on energy system control tech; travel up to 10% for validation and discussions.

Job Description Summary

Lead Engineer SCADA & EDGE is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs.

The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform requirements engineering for new farm level closed loop EDGE applications and analytics, including quantification and documentation of requirements and design tradeoffs for wind turbine / wind-farm level applications using Industrial and GEV standard protocols. The goal is to develop scalable, reliable and robust farm level applications for SCADA & EDGE software platforms working together with Design and Development teams considering system level impact and lifecycle aspects that meet customers’ requirements and quality standards.

  • Design EDGE application software platform features and applications with analytics / optimization algorithm in C#, .NET, and Python code, as well as consolidate test case for functional and system level testing.

  • Verify & validate implementation of new apps/algorithms/software features and applications by executing test cases either via simulation or remote testing on actual customer turbines.

    Deploy and follow established process to containerize algorithm as an app and deploy in an actual wind farm in the Renewables EDGE / Other industry standard EDGE OS environment and verify the algorithm performance.

  • Execute routine analyses using vested methods and technologies and/or contributes to technological developments in teams under supervision.

  • Contribute to product configuration management, sustaining and customer support. Support product development program, design review discussions and present relevant design details to chief engineers for evaluation and approval.

  • Collaborate with other Engineering and Global Research Center teams on new energy system control technology and lead design implementation efforts. The applicant may be called to travel up to 10% of the time to support product validation, product and customer discussions.

Required Qualifications
  • Master / Bachelor's degree in Controls/ Computer Science Engineering with Renewable Energy Emphasis preferred.
  • Experience in software development (C#, .NET, Python) testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Experience of working with dockers and Kubernetes environment
  • Experience relevant to wind turbine systems, Industrial SCADA & EDGE systems and Control system design
  • Experience with MATLAB Simulink, C/C++/C#, Python, GEV Renewables SCADA & EDGE Software Platforms
  • Experience in system and software design principles, SDLC, Agile methodology and AI based software and tools
  • Hands on experience in implementing cyber security and coding standards.
  • Demonstrated success in a global team environment, effective communication skills and self-starter, who delivers results with minimal supervision
