Job summary

Whirlpool India is seeking a Mechanical/Thermal engineer to design and develop cooling subsystems for refrigeration platforms. You will lead subsystem projects and collaborate with platform architects, electronics teams, and global stakeholders to ensure cooling performance meets product specs.

You should have 10–13 years of Refrigeration experience, strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and NVH, and familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate in Mechanical or Thermal engineering.
• Experience in refrigeration cooling systems.
• Strong communication and leadership in megaprojects.
• Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA and root-cause analysis.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead subsystem level cooling projects for refrigeration platforms.
• Assess heat load, thermodynamics, heat transfer and performance testing.
• Ensure product functionality and development process alignment.
• Design sealed system components with DFMEA/PFMEA.
• Coordinate with regional/global stakeholders in design reviews.
• Select components like compressor, condenser, fan motor to achieve targets.
• Address India energy regulations and product compliance.
• Troubleshoot design and field issues.

The team you will be a part of

The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

This role in summary:

PURPOSE:

• Design & Development of Cooling subsystem for Refrigeration Platforms.
• Collaboration with various functions to design & execute the cooling projects.
• Collaboration with Electronic teams to ensure Software parameters of refrigerators meets products requirements (Compressor, Fan, Dampers etc)
• Lead cooling technical forums to drive critical analysis of designs

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead & own Subsystem level projects in Cooling domain.
• Having good knowledge on heat load, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics & performance testing.
• Must understand the product, its functionality & product development process thoroughly
• Design & development of sealed system components, Knowledge on DFMEA, PFMEA and Root cause analysis required.
• Work closely with regional and global stakeholders in design reviews and technical forums.
• Shall have skill in selecting critical components like Compressor, Condenser, Fan Motor to achieve required cooling performance.
• Strong knowledge on India Energy regulations,standards and requirements
• Ability to troubleshoot both at design level and at field in the event of any failures in the product
• Able to identify clearly all the SW Parameter and Variables in flash map of refrigerators
• Early Identification of SW Parameter and Variables neededfortheTestandgetitfromSWDevelopersandSystemArchitect
• Abletoidentify/simulatechangesin softwareparametersonproductlevel/testjig
• WorkwithSESteamtoprovideinputsonsoftware/hardwarechangestomeetproductspecifications
• Knowledgeon NVHattribute-understandthenoisesourcesandfindthesolutionstomeetsystemlevelrequirements

Minimum requirements:

EDUCATION: Graduate/Post graduate in Mechanical/Thermal engineering.
EXPERIENCE/PREFERRED: 10-13 yrs relevant experience in Refrigeration cooling system
