Role Summary/Purpose:
You will be responsible for engineering design & development of Cabs structure and packaging as per system / subsystem level requirements complying with the specified standards. You will be working on Latest Technology, high business impact, Global Projects that give exposure to working with senior technologists & leaders. You will be demonstrating strong technical skills to meet business critical needs and by following robust Wabtec Engineering processes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and development of Cabs and its components for locomotive application using sound Engineering principles, adhering to business standards/ processes and as per program requirements.
- Develop concepts and evaluate, identify risks and mitigation plans to address them.
- Take the design through technical reviews. Document the technical data consistent with Engineering policies and quality procedures.
- Provide shop support for in-house manufacturing and address supplier/field issues.
- Interfacing with cross functional stakeholders across the organization.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate in organizational initiatives and team activities.
- Participate in Design review process involving Cross functional to review design scope, Design intent & design output.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring project scope & schedule.
- Prepare Verification & validation plan for various functionalities of cabs.
- Anticipate Design Risk Analysis & able to Provide corrective actions.
- Ownership of stated technical / safety / cost / reliability / performance requirements for structural and packaging design.
- Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and manufacturing across the global sites.
- Write drawing change requests and interface with drafting team for layouts, detail design, drawings and change implementation.
- Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Or Equivalent
- Working experience in the Mechanical design light fabrication area.
- Expertise in structural design ownership with affinity for calculation of material strength/Fatigue, bolted joint, welded joint etc.
- Knowledge of FEA is added advantage.
- Ability in navigating UG/Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of Light & heavy structural designs.
- Knowledge of Product Life Cycle Management.
- Basic knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, GD&T, Tolerance stack up & AWS specs.
- Sound knowledge of DFMA & DFM.
- Good communication and Presentation skills.
