Job summary

AMD is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to design and develop critical embedded software components. You will be part of a core team of embedded specialists working on cutting-edge hardware and software technologies for next-generation AMD products.

We expect a strong background in embedded systems, hands-on Linux kernel, RTOS, device drivers, and hardware bring-up, with excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive complex issues to resolution.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of embedded systems development experience.
  • Expertise in embedded C programming.
  • Hands-on with Linux kernel, RTOS (Zephyr/FreeRTOS) and device drivers.
  • Proven track record in hardware/SoC bring-up.
  • Strong understanding of silicon/hardware-software integration.
  • Knowledge of ARM and/or RISC-V architectures.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
  • Basic Python scripting skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded peripheral drivers for Linux, Zephyr and Baremetal.
  • Participate in ASIC and hardware bring-up activities.
  • Debug and resolve issues while exploring efficient solutions.
  • Collaborate with AMD architecture teams to influence future designs.
  • Apply data-driven approaches to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Stay current with trends in software, hardware, and architecture.
  • Build strong technical relationships with peers and partners.

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Software Development Engineer to design and develop critical embedded software components. As part of a core team of embedded specialists, you will work on cutting-edge hardware and software technologies, contributing to the success of next-generation AMD products.

THE PERSON:

We want an engineer who thrives in the embedded domain, demonstrates strong problem-solving and leadership skills, and can drive complex issues to resolution. You should be an effective communicator and a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across diverse teams within AMD.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded peripheral drivers (e.g., SPI, I3C, OSPI, SD/eMMC, UFS, USB, Ethernet etc) for Linux, Zephyr, and Baremetal environments.
  • Participate in ASIC and hardware bring-up activities.
  • Debug and resolve existing issues while exploring innovative, efficient solutions.
  • Collaborate with AMD architecture teams to influence and enhance future product designs.
  • Apply data-driven approaches to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in software, hardware, algorithms, and architecture.
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with peers and partners.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 12+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
  • Expertise in embedded C programming.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux kernel, RTOS (e.g., Zephyr, FreeRTOS), and device driver development.
  • Proven track record in hardware/SoC bring-up.
  • Solid understanding of silicon domain and hardware-software integration.
  • Strong knowledge of ARM and/or RISC-V architectures.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

    • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in ECE, EEE, or CSE
