Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. seeks an experienced electrical design leader for industrial drives and control panels. You will drive LV/MV hardware design, sizing of drives, and power electronics across projects, ensuring reliable, standards-compliant solutions.

The role requires a strong background in motors and drive systems, and hands-on experience with AUTOCAD, E-Plan, ETAP, and MATLAB. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and possible travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Min 10+ years' electrical design for industrial drives and control panels.
• Proficiency with AUTOCAD, E-Plan, ETAP and MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Lead LV/MV hardware drive engineering including power electronics.
• Size drives, design filters, and perform loss budget calculations.
• Develop earth and protection circuits; perform arc flash calculations.
• Translate product specs into calculations, models, and simulations.
• Create configurations, operation principles, specs, GA, BOM, SLD & schematics.
• Validate prototype performance under specified operating conditions.
• Support manufacturing for wiring, harnesses, and routing with clearances.
• Lead alternate component selection, localization, and testing.
• Document test requirements and conduct FATs per standards (UL/IEC).
• Coordinate with System Engineer and Project Manager; travel may be needed.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• LV/MV Hardware Drive Engineering – Core Electrical & Power Electronics (AC/ DC systems)
• Drive & Filter Sizing, Product hardware design / loss budget calculation / Earth & Protection circuits /Arc Flash Calculation/ RCA.
• Understand product / project specifications and realize requirements to design using calculations, modeling and simulations.
• Design system/equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines
• Prepare & validate Design documents - Configurations, principles of operation, application guidelines, specifications, GA, BOM, SLD & Schematics drawings as per requirement.
• Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions.
• Support Manufacturing for component installation, wire harness, cables routing and maintain clarence and creepages at Factory / Vendor facility.
• Taking a lead for alternate component selection, validation and localization/testing.
• Document functional test requirements and conduct test according to applicable standards (UL/IEC etc.…) /conduct project FAT’s.
• Coordinate with System Engineer and Program / Product / Project manager execution on a continuous basis.
• May require travel as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or master's degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
• Min. 10+ years of Electrical design for Industrial drives / Control Panels like PCC, MCC, Switchboards, PLC Panels etc.,
• Preferred experience/knowledge in Electrical design / Simulation tools like AUTOCAD / E-Plan, ETAP and MATLAB
• In-depth knowledge of Motors /Drive control Systems.
