Job summary

Tata AutoComp is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to lead Cabin/Platform design and integration for global tractor OEMs. You will plan activities, allocate work packages, mentor engineers, and ensure adherence to CAD standards and milestones.

Responsibilities include CAD modelling in Siemens NX, DFMEA support, GD&T, DFMA focus, interface coordination with steering, hydraulics, electrical and body teams, and ensuring manufacturability and serviceability across programs.

Skill Requirements:

5-15 Years experience in Tractor Cabin/Platform, Lever Linkages design

Technical Skills

• 515 years of experience in mechanical design and development of tractor Cabin / Platform / Operator Station systems.
• Strong knowledge of operator area design including platform, dashboard, operator controls, fenders, steering column integration, pedals, seat mounting, control levers and operator ergonomics.
• Expertise in sheet metal component design, welded structures, mounting brackets, plastic components, ROPS, FOPS and fabricated assemblies.
• Good understanding of lever linkage mechanisms for clutch, brake, PTO, gear shift and hydraulic controls.
• Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (CAD) and Teamcenter (PLM).
• Experience in product packaging, assembly integration and interface management.
• Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and engineering drawing practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, welding and plastic components.
• Exposure to DFMEA, DVP and validation activities is desirable.
• Familiarity with engineering change management and product release processes.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of mechanical design engineers.
• Ability to plan work allocation, monitor progress and ensure timely project delivery.
• Conduct technical reviews and maintain engineering quality.
• Experience coordinating with customer engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Role & responsibilities:

1. Technical Leadership

• Lead the Cabin / Platform engineering team delivering design and development projects for global tractor OEMs.
• Plan engineering activities, allocate work packages and monitor project execution.
• Mentor engineers through regular technical reviews and design guidance.
• Ensure adherence to customer engineering standards, CAD practices and project milestones.

2. Cabin / Platform Design & Integration

• Lead design and development of Cabin / Platform assemblies including:
• Operator Platform
• Dashboard and Console
• Steering Column Mounting
• Pedal Systems
• Control Lever Linkages
• Seat Mounting Structures
• Fenders
• Sheet Metal Panels
• Brackets and Mounting Structures
• Operator Controls
• Plastic Trim Components
• Ensure proper packaging, ergonomics, accessibility, serviceability and manufacturability and compliance standards.
• Manage interface integration with steering, hydraulics, electrical, chassis, VI and styling teams.

3. CAD & Engineering Deliverables

• Develop and review 3D CAD models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Review engineering drawings, BOMs and product release documentation.
• Ensure compliance with customer CAD standards and modelling best practices.
• Support engineering change implementation and configuration management.

4. Engineering Quality

• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and design standardization.
• Support GD&T implementation and tolerance stack-up studies.
• Participate in DFMEA reviews and support DVP discussions as required.
• Support prototype build activities, issue resolution and design improvements.

5. Customer & Project Coordination

• Act as the technical interface for Cabin / Platform engineering activities with the customer.
• Participate in design reviews, technical discussions and project status meetings.
