Job summary

Zomato is seeking a senior Data Science leader to guide the ML/AI direction and own end-to-end problems for high-scale B2C platforms. You will mentor a data science team and work with product and engineering to translate business problems into scalable ML solutions.

You will lead a 10-12 member Data Science/ML team, combining people leadership with hands-on technical ownership and stay ahead of AI trends to drive consumer experiences forward.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning, with experience in both individual contribution and people management.

• Explore and apply LLMs and modern AI techniques to enhance personalization, discovery, and recommendations.
• Work on high-scale B2C products with large and diverse user datasets.
• Own problems end-to-end from problem definition and experimentation to production deployment and impact measurement.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership while mentoring and developing Data Scientists within the team.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to translate business problems into scalable ML solutions.
• Stay ahead of emerging AI/ML trends and identify opportunities to unlock the next generation of consumer experiences.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning, with experience in both individual contribution and people management.
• Strong experience building and deploying ML models in production.
• Hands-on expertise in Recommendation Systems, Personalization, Ranking, or Search.
• Strong understanding of LLMs / Generative AI and their practical applications.
• Experience working with large-scale B2C products or consumer-facing platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work on ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a Data Science team while remaining technically hands-on.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Good to Have:

• Experience in consumer internet, e-commerce, marketplaces, media, or other high-scale B2C businesses.
• Experience working with large-scale recommendation or personalization platforms.
• Experience taking AI/ML products from experimentation to production.
• Exposure to modern LLM architectures, AI agents, or other emerging AI technologies.

Team and Leadership:

• You will lead a 10-12 member Data Science/ML team, combining people leadership with hands-on technical ownership.
