Lead Data & Analytics – Director, Software Engineering

We're seeking someone to join our FORT team as a Lead Data & Analytics. Our platform provides one of the most critical functions enabling the firm to effect security settlements in all the markets the firm conducts the business in. On peak volume days, the Firm processes up to forty million trades and effects settlements worth hundreds of billions of dollars for activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe.

Our team has significant presence in Montreal, New York, and Mumbai. We are organized into agile squads closely aligned with product owners, users, and other stakeholders, allowing us to directly observe the business benefit of the solutions we develop, deploy, and support. This is a Vice President position that develops and maintains software solutions that support business needs.

What you’ll do in the role

• Participate in requirements refinement sessions, and work on architecture, design, implementation, write code and automated tests, and create CI/CD pipelines following best software development and DevOps standards.
• Interact directly with users, product owners, business analysts, and other technologists across the firm.
• Build large‑scale distributed applications, preferably on Azure/Cloud.
• Actively participate in refinement sessions to ensure requirements are clearly defined.
• Write clean, performant, scalable, testable, and reusable code and build automated tests.
• Guide more junior developers to follow the best software development practices.
• Follow best DevOps practices – create CI/CD pipelines, enable capturing telemetry, and other monitoring.
• Contribute to enhancing team standards and improving processes.

Skills required (essential)

• 5+ years’ experience building distributed event‑based systems applying agile practices.
• Sound understanding of micro‑service architecture and design patterns, system resiliency, scalability, security and observability.
• Strong working knowledge of core Java, Spring‑boot, and other Spring framework features.
• Experience with designing and implementing high‑volume messaging‑ and REST‑based middleware.
