Job summary

GE Vernova in India is seeking an experienced Cost control professional to join the Project Controls team. You will help ensure projects are executed on time and within budget by applying strong cost management practices and rigorous control processes.

In this role you will work cross-functionally with leadership, engage stakeholders, and drive cost transparency. Relocation assistance is provided to support the move to Greater Noida.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with financial awareness or finance with scope content knowledge on HV substations.
• Minimum 5 years in cost/project controls on large & complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience in risk management processes and tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintains project cost to complete budgets in alignment with as sold position and in coordination with budget holders.
• Supports forecast estimation and verifies accuracy of actual to date costs.
• Develop mitigations / catch up plans with functional leaders and Project Manager.
• Ensures forecasted cost risks are captured and costs are time phased.
• Checks and controls cost movements and compares with scope and progress.
• Communicates cost status / forecasts / risk to budget holders and supports risk mitigation.
• Presents financial data transparently to project and management reviews.
• Coordinates with Finance Controller for reconciliation of project data and books.
• Coordinates with planner to align costs with schedule and provide time-phased forecasts.
• Reports on cost movement root causes affecting sales targets.
• Supports disputes and analysis of claims.

We are looking for an experienced Cost control professional to join our Project Controls team.

In Project Controls, our goal is to provide the right insights and recommendations to influence the execution of the projects and maximise value to both our customer and GE. This requires the right rigor around schedule and cost management processes to deliver projects on-time and within budget. You will engage with all functions, be exposed to the leadership, act proactively with focus and rigor around tools, processes, operating rhythm, and people.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Maintains project cost to complete budgets in alignment with as sold position and in coordination with budget holders, consistently with actual progress and trend
• Supports forecast estimation and verifies the accuracy of the actual to date cost (material, labor, manufactured costs, suppliers’ invoices, timesheets, travel expenses.). Drive and challenge budget at completion, with analysis through various means (earned value, productivity, cost ratio, market trends…). Validates accuracy of estimates
• Develop mitigations / catch up plans in alignment with functional leaders and Project Manager
• Aligns with project team and time schedule to ensure forecasted cost risks are accurately captured and costs time phased.
• Checks and controls cost movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast.
• Communicates cost status / forecasts /risk to budget holders and drives / supports risk mitigation and cost out.
• Presents all financial data in a transparent way, attends project and management review to present cost status, budget deviations and root causes.
• Aligns with Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation takes place between approved project financial data and books.
• Aligns with planner to ensure costs and schedule are aligned, providing time phased cost forecasts for sales pacing.
• Reports on cost movement root causes impacting sales targets
• Support disputes and analysis of claims

Qualifications & Experience

Educational/Experience Requirements

• Degree qualified either in engineering (with financial awareness), or in finance (with good understanding of scope content on HV substations).
• Minimum 5 years experience of cost controls / project controls / project management on large & complex or turnkey infrastructure projects.
• Experience in risk management processes and tools.
• Knowledge of ERP systems is an asset (SAP preferred).
• Experience managing small teams within a large project is an asset.
• Project planning experience / good P6 planning software understanding is an asset.
