Job summary

Confidential Client is seeking a Senior/Lead Automation Engineer in Bangalore (Hybrid) to drive automation initiatives across web, API, and database applications. You will architect scalable frameworks in Java, lead testing efforts, and mentor junior QA engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of hands-on automation experience, strong SQL proficiency, and proven leadership in Agile environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands-on automation testing experience.
• Senior/Lead Automation Engineer experience in enterprise-scale apps.
• Strong Java programming with OOP understanding.
• Extensive experience with Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured or similar.
• Experience building automation frameworks (TestNG, Cucumber, JUnit, etc.).
• Automation across web, API, and database applications on multiple platforms/browsers.
• Proficient SQL skills with Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, Databricks, or SQL-based systems.
• Knowledge of SDLC/STLC, QA best practices, and testing methodologies.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead automation initiatives and mentor juniors.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable test automation frameworks using standard tools and best practices.
• Lead automation strategy aligned with business goals and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, analysts, and QA teams to identify test scenarios and coverage.
• Execute automated tests, log defects with root-cause analysis, and track resolution.
• Optimize scripts for performance, reliability, and reusability.
• Mentor junior QA engineers on frameworks, coding standards, and best practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and assist in test planning and estimation.
• Conduct code and test automation reviews and contribute to QA governance.
• Coordinate with DevOps to maintain test environments and improve testing efficiency.
• Evaluate new tools/technologies to improve automation capabilities and coverage.

• Proven experience working as a Senior/Lead Automation Engineer or equivalent role in enterprise?scale applications.

• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java with solid understanding of OOP concepts.

• Extensive hands?on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured or similar.

• Strong experience in developing automation frameworks like testNG , Cucumber ,Junit ,etc.,

• Experience automating web, API, database applications across multiple platforms and browsers.

• Strong expertise in writing complex SQL queries and working with databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, databricks, or SQL?based systems.

• Excellent understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC/STLC, test design techniques, and QA best practices.

• Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem?solving skills with attention to detail.

• Candidate should be a strong individual contributor with the ability to independently drive automation initiatives and lead automation team

• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with exposure to test planning and estimation.

• Knowledge of performance testing tools and concepts is an added advantage.

• ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or other relevant testing/automation certifications are a strong plus.

• Architect, design, and implement scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks using industry?standard tools, libraries, and best practices.

• Lead the development of automation strategies aligned with business requirements, CI/CD pipelines, and overall quality goals.

• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and QA teams to analyze requirements, identify test scenarios, and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

• Execute automated test scripts, analyze results, log defects with detailed root?cause analysis, and track issues to resolution.

• Optimize automation scripts for performance, reliability, reusability, and reduced execution time.

• Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively suggest improvements in automation approach, test data management, and testing processes. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior QA engineers on automation frameworks, coding standards, and testing best practices.

• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand?ups, retrospectives, and release planning.

• Conduct code and test automation reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.

• Work closely with DevOps teams to maintain test environments and improve deployment and testing efficiency.

• Evaluate, recommend, and drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to continuously improve test automation capabilities.

• Ensure quality metrics, automation coverage reports, and test execution results are communicated effectively to stakeholders.

• Contribute to defining and enhancing the overall QA strategy, test governance, and quality roadmap for the organization.
