Job summary

UPS is seeking a Lead Applications Developer in Chennai to design, develop, and maintain comprehensive software solutions. You will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery while integrating AI coding practices.

The role requires senior expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring, JPA, WebLogic, and SQL Server, with experience in CI/CD. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential; a Bachelor's degree in CS or related field is expected.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with Java, J2EE, WebLogic and SQL
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA and Javascript
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
• Experience with agile development, scrum concepts and CI/CD
• Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
• Desirable: C#, .Net and ExtJS
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field

Job Description

The Lead Applications Developer applies the principles of software engineering to design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate computer software that provide business capabilities, solutions, and/or product suites. Provides systems life cycle management to ensure delivery of technical solutions that are on time and within budget. Has the ability and experience to integrate AI coding practices into the development lifecycle. Research and support the integration of emerging technologies. Provides knowledge and support for applications' development, integration, and maintenance. Develops program logic for new applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications. Analyzes requirements, tests, and integrates application components. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented. Defines application complexity drivers, estimates development efforts, creates milestones and/or timelines, and tracks progress towards completion. The lead developer must have experience building and deploying J2EE web applications utilizing core Java, Spring Framework or Spring Boot, JPA and SQL Server. Experience with WebLogic and CI/CD is required. Experience with C#, .Net and Sencha ExtJS is a plus. The lead developer will collaborate with other developers and teams to accomplish objectives. He/She must be self-motivated, dependable, proactive, organized and a strong team player.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 12+ years of experience with Java Programming, J2EE Web Development, WebLogic and SQL Language
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA and Javascript
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, ex. GitHub Copilot
• Experience with agile development, scrum concepts and CI/CD pipeline
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript and CSS
• Experience with C#, .Net and ExtJS is a plus
• Must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly
• Must demonstrate attention to detail, team leadership, team management and team motivation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or the equivalent in education and work experience
