Job summary

General Mills is seeking an experienced BI leader to design governed semantic models using Looker, LookML and BigQuery. You will enable trusted metrics, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled BI while partnering with business and Digital & Technology teams.

You will craft scalable data models, define metrics, and ensure data governance, security, and performance across analytics assets with strong stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
• 9+ years total experience, including 6+ years designing and delivering analytics solutions with business stakeholders.
• Advanced experience with Google Looker, LookML, SQL, and BigQuery; proficiency in Tableau and Python.
• Proven ability to build reusable semantic models, certified metrics, business definitions, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled BI solutions.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, ETL, metadata management, data governance, access controls, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git-based development, code reviews, CI/CD, and change control for analytics assets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, influence without authority.

• Lead governance, access controls, security, certification, monitoring, auditing, Git workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD.
• Partner with stakeholders to shape BI strategy, clarify business problems, communicate trade-offs, and deliver impactful solutions.
• Mentor team members and champion BI standards, automation, tool rationalization, and continuous improvement.

Overview

Lead BI ideation, consulting, and delivery while owning the design of governed, reusable semantic models using Looker, LookML, and BigQuery. Enable trusted metrics, consistent business definitions, dashboards, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled BI capabilities. As an individual contributor, partner with business and Digital & Technology teams to deliver standardized, user-friendly solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (full-time) in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
• 9+ years of total experience, including 6+ years designing and delivering analytics solutions with business stakeholders.
• Advanced experience with Google Looker, LookML, SQL, and BigQuery; proficiency in Tableau and Python.
• Proven ability to build reusable semantic models, certified metrics, business definitions, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled BI solutions.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, ETL, metadata management, data governance, access controls, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git-based development, code reviews, CI/CD, and change control for analytics assets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, influence without authority, advise leaders, and drive BI adoption

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with semantic-layer strategy, shared data models, or BI architecture modernization.
• Knowledge of AI for BI governance, including use-case intake, agent testing, monitoring, auditing, and production readiness.
• Familiarity with Python or another programming language, plus data catalog and governance tools such as Alation or Google Cloud data services.
• Thoughtful, proactive leader who delivers scalable business solutions and addresses problems directly.
• Consultant mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence peers and leaders.
• Agile learner with curiosity, passion, and a focus on understanding the “why.”
