Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru seeks an experienced LabVantage Solution Architect to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of LabVantage LIMS. This role requires balancing business solutioning with hands-on configuration to deliver compliant LabVantage solutions across the sample lifecycle and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution architecture and functional/technical design for LabVantage LIMS implementations.
• Translate business requirements into solution blueprints, architecture design, functional specifications, and technical design documents.
• Define the best-fit approach using out-of-the-box, configuration, and customization within LabVantage.
• Provide hands-on support in LabVantage configuration, workflow setup, master data design, security model setup, forms, labels, dashboards, and reports.
• Design and oversee custom developments, scripts, and extensions where business needs cannot be met through standard configuration.
• Drive requirements workshops, FRS/URS discussions, solution reviews, design walkthroughs, and implementation governance.
• Architect and support integrations between LabVantage and lab instruments, SDMS, file servers, enterprise platforms, and other external systems.

We are looking for an experienced LabVantage Solution Architect to lead the solution design, architecture, and implementation of LabVantage LIMS. The role requires a strong balance of business solutioning capability and hands‑on configuration/development expertise to translate laboratory, quality, and regulatory requirements into scalable, supportable, and compliant LabVantage solutions.

The ideal candidate should be able to work closely with Technology/R&D stakeholders, lab SMEs -Scientists / Technicians, to define the target solution architecture, drive design decisions, and ensure successful implementation of LabVantage capabilities across sample lifecycle, testing, results management, instrument integration, workflows, master data, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution architecture and functional/technical design for LabVantage LIMS implementations.
• Translate business requirements into solution blueprints, architecture design, functional specifications, and technical design documents.
• Define the best‑fit approach using out‑of‑the‑box (OOB), configuration, and customization within LabVantage.
• Provide hands‑on support in LabVantage configuration, workflow setup, master data design, security model setup, forms, labels, dashboards, and reports.
• Design and oversee custom developments, scripts, and extensions where business needs cannot be met through standard configuration.
• Drive requirements workshops, FRS/URS discussions, solution reviews, design walkthroughs, and implementation governance.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills Required

• Strong hands‑on experience in LabVantage LIMS architecture, implementation, configuration, and customization.
• Good understanding of LabVantage modules/capabilities, such as:
• Sample and batch lifecycle management
• Test execution and result entry/review
• ELN / structured experiment documentation
• Instrument integration
• Master data setup
• Reports, labels, dashboards, and notifications
• User roles and security
• Experience in LabVantage configuration and administration setup.
• Strong knowledge of database concepts, SQL/querying, and data mapping.
• Experience with API/integration patterns, file‑based interfaces, SDMS, and instrument connectivity.
• Understanding of deployment environments, release management, migration, and change control.
• Experience with test planning, validation support, defect handling, and technical documentation.

Functional / Domain Skills Required

• Strong understanding of laboratory operations and LIMS business processes.
• Experience in requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, process mapping, and translating URS/FRS into workable solution designs.
• Good knowledge of:
• Sample registration and tracking
• Test assignment and execution workflows
• Results capture, review, and approval
• Inventory / consumables / reagent management
• Audit trail, e‑signature, data integrity, and traceability
• Ability to balance standardization vs customization and recommend scalable design choices.
• Experience working in multi‑site / enterprise implementations is preferred.
• Exposure to regulated or quality‑sensitive environments such as R&D labs, manufacturing labs, quality labs, pharma, chemicals, battery, materials, or scientific laboratories is desirable.

Required Experience

• Minimum 6+ years of overall experience in LIMS / lab digital systems.
• Strong implementation experience in LabVantage LIMS, including solutioning, configuration, and development/customization.
• Proven experience in at least one or more end‑to‑end LabVantage implementation / rollout / enhancement programs.
• Experience in defining architecture across business processes, workflows, integrations, security, reporting, and deployment.
• Ability to act as a bridge between business stakeholders, business analysts, developers, QA, and support teams.

• Experience with SaaS deployments and enterprise integration landscape.
• Exposure to instrument integration frameworks / SDMS.
• Experience in regulated environments with validation and compliance expectations.
• Experience supporting global or multi‑location lab operations.
• Familiarity with agile delivery, change control, and release governance.
