The Principal is responsible for all administrative functions and academic activities of Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts, under the guidance and orders of the Director. The broad scope of the work is:

• Submit proposals to the Director to develop, administer and promote the college's academic programs and academic support functions, including international programs
• Co-ordinate holding an Academic Advisory Committee meeting at least once a year
• Recommend to the Director the nomination, retention, termination and remuneration of contract faculty, both full-time and part-time
• Monitor the overall functioning of the College
• Ensure examinations run smoothly and results are declared within the stipulated date lines
• Ensure discipline among students and bring serious issues to the Director's notice
• Coordinate and promote academic proposals, changes, reviews and other academic matters
• Coordinate among the Dance, Music, Costume Block, Theatre and Visual Arts Departments
