Job summary

Cuculus GmbH is seeking a motivated Junior Python Developer to build robust backend systems. You will work with Python and Django to develop and maintain backend applications, design REST APIs with DRF, and handle asynchronous tasks using Celery and Redis.

You'll interact with PostgreSQL or MySQL via Django ORM, containerize apps with Docker, and ensure clean, testable code. Fresh graduates or developers with 0–2 years' Python/Django experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of Python fundamentals and OOP.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Django and DRF.
• Familiarity with Celery and Redis for background tasks.
• Basic SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Python and Django.
• Design and implement REST APIs, preferably using Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Work with Celery for asynchronous and background task processing.
• Understand and work with Celery brokers/backends such as Redis.
• Write basic to intermediate SQL queries and interact with relational databases.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL through Django ORM.
• Containerize and run applications using Docker.
• Debug application issues and analyze logs to identify and resolve problems.
• Write clean, readable, reusable, and maintainable Python code.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards and development practices.
• Use Git for source-code management and collaborate with other developers.
• Work closely with senior developers and other team members to understand requirements and implement solutions.
• Learn and adopt new technologies and development practices as required.

• Familiarity with Git and basic Git workflows.
• Basic understanding of HTTP, JSON, and RESTful APIs.

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-2 years of experience in Python/backend development.
• Fresh graduates with relevant projects, internships, or demonstrated Python/Django experience are encouraged to apply.
