Job summary

Persistent is seeking a Junior Okta Engineer in Bengaluru to support Okta CIS implementation, configuration, testing, and operations. You will work with the Senior IAM Engineer and Solutions Architect to onboard applications and implement governance features.

You will help configure Okta Universal Directory, groups, and SSO/mfa policies, assist with onboarding users, and test workflows and integration points across the identity stack. This is a hands-on role for growth in IAM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of Okta Identity Cloud and Universal Directory.
• Experience with JML processes and user lifecycle management.
• Experience with Okta Workflows and SSO concepts (SAML/OIDC).
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and basic scripting (Python/Java).
• Ability to collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

About Position:

The Junior Okta Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, configuration, testing, and operational activities of the Okta Customer Identity Services (CIS) platform. This position requires a strong understanding of Okta Identity Cloud, as the candidate will work closely with the Senior IAM Engineer and Solutions Architect to enhance identity management capabilities, onboard applications, and implement Okta Identity Governance features.

What You'll Do:

• Support configuration and administration of Okta Universal Directory, user profiles, attributes, and profile mappings.
• Configure and maintain Okta Groups, Group Rules, and application assignments based on approved designs.
• Assist with manual user onboarding and CSV-based bulk user onboarding processes.
• Support implementation and testing of Joiner, Mover, and Leaver (JML) processes.
• Assist with development and testing of Okta Workflows for user lifecycle management, notifications, approvals, and operational automation.
• Support configuration of Okta Identity Governance (OIG) capabilities, including Access Requests, Resource Catalogs, approval flows, and Access Certification campaigns.
• Assist with onboarding enterprise applications to Okta for Single Sign-On (SSO) using SAML and OIDC.
• Support configuration and validation of application attribute mappings and user/group assignments.
• Assist with configuration and testing of MFA and Authentication Policies based on approved security requirements.
• Support Org2Org federation configuration and testing under the guidance of senior engineering resources.
• Execute unit testing, integration testing, SIT, and UAT test cases and document results.
• Troubleshoot basic authentication, provisioning, workflow, and application integration issues and elevate complex issues to the Senior IAM Engineer.
• Support configuration migration and validation between Preview and Production environments.
• Maintain implementation documentation, configuration records, test evidence, and operational runbooks.
• Support Production rollout, Hypercare, issue tracking, and post-deployment validation.
• Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and technical reviews with senior engineering resources.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Hands-on knowledge or experience with Okta Identity Cloud and Universal Directory.
• Understanding of user lifecycle management concepts, including Joiner, Mover, and Leaver (JML) processes.
• Experience in Okta Workflows.
• Basic understanding of authentication and federation standards including SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Understanding of SSO, MFA, RBAC, groups, and access management concepts.
• Good troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers, architects, application teams, and other project stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Okta Identity Governance, Access Requests, and Access Certifications.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python or Java.
• Familiarity with Git, Terraform, or Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in identity management principles, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in the field of identity and access management.
• Educational background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience.
