Digital Buildings System Engineer
Responsible for orchestrating the onboarding and integration of building management systems, IoT devices, and facility management solutions into a designated cloud platform. The role is platform‑agnostic and spans multiple hardware and software ecosystems, ensuring secure, optimized data flow for real‑time analytics and remote monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and analyze existing building systems (BMS, HVAC, lighting, energy, IoT).
- Map and document system architecture for cloud migration compatibility.
- Configure cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to receive and process data.
- Develop and implement data flow protocols from on‑premises systems to cloud, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy policies, implementing encryption, authentication, and access control.
- Analyze system data to generate insights on performance, sustainability, and operations; prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Liaise with IT, facility management, and operations teams to understand requirements and constraints.
- Provide technical support and training to on‑site staff on cloud‑based building management tools.
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑onboarding testing to validate data integrity and system performance.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data transmission, system compatibility, and network connectivity.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of onboarding processes, system configurations, and cloud settings.
- Generate regular reports on onboarding status, system performance, and key metrics.
- Represent FPC professionally, communicate with colleagues, and support the Digital Buildings Services Group.
Qualifications
- 4‑7 years of experience in building automation systems design, cloud integration, or IT infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience in systems integration within architecture, design, or construction.
- Strong cybersecurity best practices for cloud integrations.
- Knowledge of edge computing and data preprocessing for IoT.
- Technical expertise in digital & smart building projects, building controls, cybersecurity, IP networking, system audits, and site surveys.
- Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering or related field.
- Fluent in German and English; flexibility for travel within Germany.
- Preferred: Certifications in BMS (Niagara, Delmatic, Delta, or LoRaWAN) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
