Job summary

Oceaneering India Center in Chandigarh is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to prepare 3D CAD data and detailed drawings, including P&IDs, for moderate to complex assignments. You will work under supervision, plan tasks, and ensure compliance with drafting standards.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of design/drafting experience with BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and familiarity with ASME/ASTM standards. Strong CAD skills and proactive communication are beneficial.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical with ≥2 years' design/drafting experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD data creation and drawing generation.
• Knowledge of drafting symbols, tolerances, surface finish and weld joints.
• Able to plan own work and estimate task time.
• Familiarity with mechanical industry codes (ASME/ASTM) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D CAD data and detailed design drawings incl. P&IDs.
• Execute tasks within KPI targets.
• Apply drafting symbols for tolerance, surface finish, fasteners.
• Use CAD tools for modeling, assembly, welding drawings.

Prepares detailed design drawings, schematics, layouts, general arrangements, P&IDs and related CAD data for moderate to complex technical assignments under little supervision.

Essential

• Prepares 3d CAD data and detailed design/manufacturing/weldment/assembly/general arrangement drawings, hydraulic/electrical schematics, layouts, general arrangements and P&IDs.
• Execute the assigned tasks within required KPI’s.
• Basic knowledge of drafting symbols and their application for tolerance, surface finish, fasteners, screw threads and welded joints. Requires guidance on non-routine problems.
• Intermediate knowledge of CAD software tool in the area of application, viz. modeling, assembly, drawing, weldment, etc.
• Able to plan his/her own work and provide the time estimation for the assigned tasks.
• Basic knowledge of drafting and other standards governing tolerance, welding, surface finish, hydraulics symbols.

B. Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 2 years of Design / Drafting experience.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
