Job summary

The Open Room in the Greater Chennai Area is seeking a Junior Architect to support concepts through execution, collaborating with senior architects and educators.

You will prepare design presentations, create CAD/BIM models, participate in design reviews, and help align spatial design with learning objectives while integrating digital tools into the workflow. This is an on-site, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational skills in Architecture and Architectural Design.
• Basic familiarity with Software Development and Integration of design tools with digital platforms.
• Introductory Project Management skills like task coordination and time management.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and related visualization tools.

The Open Room is a studio where architecture and education are intentionally merged, creating spaces and learning ecosystems together. As one of the first studios to blend architectural practice with edtech, the team rethinks how design is practiced, taught, and experienced. The studio’s work spans innovative architectural projects and immersive learning platforms that support continuous skill development. The Open Room fosters an open environment in which ideas, collaboration, and creativity are encouraged and shared across disciplines.

Role Description

The Junior Architect will support architectural projects from concept through execution, assisting with design development, drawings, and documentation in close collaboration with senior architects and educators. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing design presentations, producing CAD/BIM models, participating in design reviews, and coordinating with internal teams to align spatial design with learning objectives. The role involves gathering requirements, supporting basic project planning tasks, and helping integrate digital tools into the design workflow. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chennai Area.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong foundational skills in Architecture and Architectural Design, including concept development, space planning, and visualization.
• Candidates should possess basic familiarity with Software Development and Integration, particularly in using or linking design tools with digital learning platforms.
• Candidates should possess introductory Project Management skills, such as task coordination, time management, and documentation support.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and visualization tools.
• Candidates should possess strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Relevant academic qualification such as a bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch or equivalent) is preferred; prior internship or studio experience is an advantage.
