Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in India is seeking senior Applications Development professionals to provide technical oversight across multiple systems and applications.

You will review and analyze proposed solutions and help formulate strategies for applications development to achieve business goals. You will lead engineering teams, document requirements and designs, and champion modern, scalable architectures with microservices, API gateways, and cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable analytical and quantitative skills.
• 12-15 years of hands-on experience in design and delivery of enterprise applications.
• Experience leading and directing engineering teams.
• Experience with cards or payments domain is a plus.
• Experience with Mainframe modernization and microservices is a plus.

• Utilize in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas to provide technical oversight across systems and applications

• Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects

• Contribute to formulation of strategies for applications development and other functional areas

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business integrate toaccomplishbusiness goals

• Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual data in complicated and unique situations

• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards negotiating with external parties when necessary

• Engage in innovativeproblem solvingactivities, requiring conceptual thinking creating 'out of the box' solutions with prototypes and pilots.

• Foster an environment of engineering excellence and innovation

• Enable the team to scale adoption of TDD/BDDpractices to ensure delivery ofhigh qualitycode withlow rates of production defects.

• Instrument services and solutions to ensure deployed software is scalable and reliable.

• Establish patterns and guidance to teams to analyze monolithic applications toidentifyseams and areas to carve out toMicroserviceson an ongoing basis

• Implement patterns and guidelines to design portableMicroserviceswith associated bounded context

• Design interoperability with existing monolithic applications and newMicroservicesas transformation progresses

• Drive high quality of systems design and adherence to global architecture principles

• Lead teams that gather and document technical requirements, code specifications, test plans and results, and other deliverablesrequiredfor multiple projects, perform analysis, solution & design, development, testing,implementationand maintenance of applications

• Provideexpertisein technical analysis and be able to resolve complex issues through in-depth evaluation of business processes, system processes

• Ensure alignment to architectural assertions and constantly look for opportunities to modernize application

• Be a self-starter and develop a detailed knowledge of the eco-system the applicationoperatesin

• Work effectively with remote teams, with a focus on fostering positive working relationships

• Drive application optimization and tuning withobjectiveto drive running costs down

• Establish collaborative and productive relationships with diversestakeholderteamslocatedacross time zones to arrive atbest in classglobal solutions for the Bank

• Mentor and grow engineers and teams, enabling a culture of technical excellence

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualification:

• Graduate/Post Graduate degree in engineeringorcomputer science streams

• Demonstrable analytical and quantitative skills

• 12-15years ofhands onexperience in technical design and delivery of enterprise applications especially in the Cards and Payments space

• Demonstrable experience of having led and directed engineering teams

Core Technical competencies:

• Past roles as a technical/engineeringlead with demonstrable experience having led and directedsoftwaredevelopment teams

• Past roles withDesign, Development experience working with cards or retail bank applications and/or packages an advantage

• Engineering talent with working knowledge and experience integrating and/or transforming enterprise Mainframe systems to modern event driven, distributed & cloud technologies,forward-compatibleand open to continuous learning will be a big plus

• Extensive experience in havingled technical teams,implementedinnovativesolutionsandbeen responsible fordeliveryof enterprise solutionsinany one of the following technologies:

• Core Java (1.7 or higher), J2EE, Spring framework, Spring boot, RHEL OpenShift
• IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2 with hands on experience in a SYSPLEX/CICSPLEX environment and experience with modernizing Mainframe applications
• Hands on experience wiring with microservices architecture, API gateway.

• Good exposure to variousDatabasetechnologies(DB2/Oracle/MongoDB)

• Experience in designing applications that produce/consume SOAP/Rest web services and/or Open APIs

• Experience working with modern messagingpub/sub technologies like, Kafka,Solaceetc.

• Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern CI/CD practices.
• Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling and infrastructure-level concepts, including ELK, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Cloud, and AWS S3.
• Agile Methodologies: Solid experience working in and practicing Agile development methodologies.
• AI and Prompt Engineering: Wide exposure to and practical experience with smart AI tools and the ability to seamlessly embed AI tools in daily workflows.
• Experience working with enterprise transactionprocessingsystemswith focus on recovery, stability, reliability,scalabilityand performance

• Experience in performance tuning of complex applications with significant volumes

• A good understanding of the cards & payments industry fundamentals and ongoingpayment industrytrends
