Job summary

Citi in Chennai is seeking an Applications Development Programmer Analyst at an intermediate level to contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of new or revised application systems in coordination with the Technology team.

You will develop robust server-side Java with Spring Boot, build responsive UI with Angular, implement RESTful APIs, participate in code reviews, and work with global onshore/offshore teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional Java development experience with SpringBoot-based applications.
• Strong proficiency in Angular and Java ecosystems (Spring Framework, Hibernate).
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and UI/UX forms, and relational databases (Oracle/SQL).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Maven/Gradle, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

The Applications Development Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

General Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance server-side applications using Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC).
• Build responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular), HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Ability to design, develop components with minimal assistance and ability to effectively interact, collaborate with development architects and stakeholders to design scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures, ability to effectively communicate development progress, Work with developers onshore, offshore and matrix teams to implement a business solution
• Write user/supported documentation, evaluate and adopt new dev tools, libraries, and approaches to improve delivery quality, Perform peer code review of project codebase changes
• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code
• Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems
• Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications, analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts, identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgements to recommend and implement solutions
• Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the applications of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgement and autonomy. Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Java, SpringBoot applications development.
• Strong proficiency in Angular, Java and its ecosystem (Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle).
• Extensive experience with designing and developing RESTful APIs and UI/UX forms
• Solid understanding of App Development, object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases Oracle / SQL.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience on DEVOPS, CI/CD, Build Tools Maven, Ant, with knowledge on using Sonar, Blackduck and Jenkins
• Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills (Nice To Have)

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., OpenShift, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React, Angular) is a plus.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with performance testing and tuning.
• Certification in Java or related technologies.
