Job description

Role Title: Senior Manager / Manager Process Excellence

Reports To: Head of Manufacturing

Company: ITC Foods Business Division

Function/ Department: Snacks, Noodles & Pasta

1. JOB PURPOSE

To continuously review manufacturing processes across units for identifying & implementing process excellence initiatives for achieving improvement in process parameters & cost savings. To manage the entire new product introduction process from ideation to development phase (in collaboration with Product Development team) to manufacturing team to packaging team to launch of new product.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Process Excellence
  1. Monitor performance of 10+ CMUs & 10+ Own Factories to ensure performance on various parameters is on target w.r.t manufacturing cost of RM & PM.
  2. Identify improvement opportunities, work with development teams to develop alternatives, undertake pilot testing & trials to ensure successful implementation prior to transition to operations.
  3. Plan cost saving initiatives (2-3% contribution) for the year & implement the same across units – PM changes, recipe changes, yield improvement, etc.
  4. Drive digitization efforts for capturing & monitoring manufacturing process indices to enhance performance analysis.
  5. Undertake benchmarking exercise vis-à-vis competitor products for each unit to identify improvement opportunities for packaging cost saving by analyzing inputs from Manufacturing, Sales & Brand teams as well as the Central Packaging team.
  6. Review annual & monthly performance data for all units across various parameters to determine improvement initiatives for recipe cost saving & yield improvement.
  7. Initiate identified improvement projects with the respective factory teams.
2. New Product Introduction
  1. Drive innovation & product launches for Sunfeast brand covering the entire new product introduction cycle – from ideation to development phase (in collaboration with Product Development team) to manufacturing team to packaging team to launch of new product.
  2. Collaborate with various stakeholders – R&D, Package Development, Branding, Procurement, Finance, Manufacturing teams to ensure new product launch is seamless in terms of quality, cost & timelines.
  3. Drive inclusion of process excellence practices in set up of processes for new products being introduced.
3. Capability Development
  1. Undertake TNI & design of training programs / knowledge sharing platforms for capability development across the manufacturing teams.
  2. Manage training for new joiners (MTs) as part of their induction in collaboration with HR.
  3. Identify & guide through appropriate projects for new joiners to ensure understanding & alignment w.r.t various processes & readiness for role requirements.
3. MAJOR CHALLENGES

Managing responsibilities with limited authority provided – aligning manufacturing heads with improvement initiatives.

4. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications

  1. Qualifications: Graduate in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Food Tech) with minimum 4-6 years of experience across various areas in manufacturing in the Foods industry with majority in production with 2-3 years of experience in process engineering for new products.
