Role Purpose / Mission

The R&D Applications SME is responsible for the ownership, governance, and lifecycle management of a portfolio of R&D and product development applications. The role ensures platforms are stable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise IT standards, supporting reliable product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Application Ownership & IT Delivery

• Act as IT application owner and primary SME for assigned R&D applications.
• Define and maintain application standards, configurations, and governance.
• Serve as the primary IT Delivery contact for R&D stakeholders.
• Provide Tier‑3 functional and technical expertise for complex issues.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for systemic problems.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with security policies, audit, and data retention requirements.
• Oversee access, roles, permissions, and license management.
• Support access reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
• Maintain standard operating procedures and support documentation.

Modernization & Lifecycle Management

• Contribute to application modernization and platform migrations.
• Participate in roadmap and future‑state design discussions.
• Identify opportunities for simplification, consolidation, and standardization.
• Support archival and decommissioning of legacy systems, ensuring data accessibility and compliance.

Continuous Improvement

• Monitor application usage, adoption, and licensing metrics.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and technical debt.
• Improve consistency, efficiency, and user experience across platforms.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience administering enterprise R&D or engineering applications in a global IT environment.
• Hands‑on administration of platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and selected AI‑enabled tools used in R&D environments.
• Experience administering enterprise collaboration and R&D application platforms (e.g., Jira, Confluence, OnePlan).
• Strong understanding of access management and security principles.
• Experience supporting applications across their full lifecycle.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Clear, structured communication skills.
