Job summary

Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited is seeking a Manager – Automation / IT-OT to lead the automation and control systems across manufacturing and utility areas. The role focuses on PLC/SCADA/HMI/DCS, industrial networks, historian platforms, and integration with shop-floor systems, with strong emphasis on pharmaceutical compliance and reliability.

The candidate will coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and IT, drive upgrades and continuous improvement, and ensure projects meet GMP data

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in automation/control systems and IT-OT.
• Strong hands-on ability with PLC/SCADA/HMI/DCS and industrial networks.
• GMP-regulated pharmaceutical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS automation across manufacturing.
• Ensure reliable operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of automation systems.
• Work with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000 and B&R Automation Studio.
• Administer SCADA/HMI apps like WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Ignition, iFIX.
• Manage historian solutions such as AVEVA Historian, Siemens Process Historian.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, IT and external vendors.
• Participate in URS prep, FAT/SAT, commissioning and qualification.
• Ensure GMP compliance and data integrity in automation systems.
• Support change controls, deviations, CAPA and troubleshooting.

Experience: 8 to 10 Years

Role Purpose

The Manager – Automation / IT-OT will be responsible for managing, maintaining and improving plant automation and control systems to ensure reliable manufacturing operations. The role involves PLC/SCADA/HMI/DCS systems, industrial networks, historian platforms, manufacturing applications and integration of shop-floor systems, with a strong focus on pharmaceutical compliance, system reliability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support PLC, SCADA, HMI and DCS-based automation systems across manufacturing and utility areas.
• Ensure reliable operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial automation and process control systems.
• Work with programming and engineering platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 and B&R Automation Studio.
• Support and administer SCADA/HMI applications including WinCC, WinCC Unified, WinCC Professional, FactoryTalk View, Ignition SCADA, AVEVA/Wonderware InTouch and iFIX.
• Manage industrial communication and historian solutions such as Kepware, AVEVA Historian, Proficy Historian, FactoryTalk Historian and Siemens Process Historian.
• Support integration of plant-floor automation systems with MES, Werum PAS-X, LIMS and LabWare applications.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, IT and external system integrators/vendors for automation projects, upgrades and troubleshooting.
• Participate in automation projects, including URS preparation/review, design review, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification and handover.
• Ensure automation systems are operated and maintained in accordance with applicable GMP requirements, data integrity principles and site procedures.
• Support change controls, deviations, CAPA and troubleshooting related to automation/IT-OT systems.
• Ensure appropriate backup, restoration, access control and system lifecycle management for critical automation systems.
• Drive system upgrades, obsolescence management and continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability, productivity and equipment performance.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and other team members and coordinate with OEMs/vendors for critical issues.

• Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated environment will be preferred.

Candidate Profile

• Strong hands-on experience in PLC, SCADA, HMI and industrial automation systems.
• Experience in automation system integration, troubleshooting, commissioning and qualification.
• Good understanding of GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, vendor-management and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Ability to independently manage automation projects and provide technical leadership to the team
