AutoZone is seeking a Technical Manager to lead software engineering teams building and operating AutoZone’s global data platform on Google Cloud. You will balance technical depth, people leadership, and delivery execution to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

You will partner with architects, product managers, and security teams to translate vision into high-quality execution, ensuring reliable data services, robust ETL pipelines, and adherence to modern DevOps practices across production

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
15+ years of professional software development experience, including leadership of data platforms.
5+ years of experience leading or managing data engineering teams.
Solid back-end development experience using Java (Spring Boot) and Data Management tools.
Experience designing and working with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
Experience in developing ETL pipelines and data governance.
Experience in Agentic AI development.
Practical experience with cloud-native development on Google Cloud Platform, including services such as GKE, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Apigee, and data platforms.
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD), containerization, and Kubernetes-based deployments.
Strong understanding of security, privacy, and compliance considerations for SaaS platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design of robust ETL pipelines ensuring data reliability and accuracy.
Implement monitoring and alerting of data pipelines to track data quality and data freshness.
Lead a team of software engineers in the development of data services layer.
Experience with data engineering pipelines using Big Query as the data platform,
Ensure consistent application of engineering best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE), automated testing, and deployment strategies.
Own delivery commitments for team initiatives, ensuring predictable execution, high quality, and on-time delivery using Agile and DevOps methodologies.
Collaborate with InfoSec and compliance teams to ensure security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, LGPD, etc.) are embedded into software development and operational processes.
Conduct and participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions to ensure technical quality and adherence to standards.
Work closely with product management and business leaders to translate requirements into actionable technical plans and incremental delivery milestones.
Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and operational health across production environments.
Directly manage, mentor, and develop engineers and technical leads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Support career development through regular feedback, coaching, and performance management aligned with company values and engineering expectations.
Promote adoption of modern development practices, engineering discipline, and a strong quality mindset across teams.
Act as an escalation point for technical and delivery issues, driving timely resolution while maintaining team morale and focus.

Position Summary
