Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Analyst Applications (Java Developer) to join Order Fulfilment & Procurement–CAT IT Division to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Strategic Sales applications used globally by Sales professionals across Caterpillar. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications while working closely with business users, architects, analysts, and global development teams. You will contribute to the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure software solutions that support critical procurement processes.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore – Caterpillar PSN

This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule.

Shift Timing: 01:00-10:00PM IST

Procurement-CAT IT Division

The incumbent would provide application and technical leadership to a global team responsible for the development and support of Strategic Sales systems. Applying systems solutions to business/technical problems through customer interactions, and by providing assistance to less experienced analysts in the design, programming, debugging, testing, and integration/implementation of complex, medium to large-sized automated information technology systems.

This role will provide programming and application/technical leadership, guidance, mentoring and assistance to support team members, including onsite and offshore, for a suite of around 40 applications

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield PSN Office, Bangalore, India

What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, and implement Java-based applications and services supporting procurement business functions.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, integrations, and backend services to support enterprise applications.
  • Work with relational and cloud-based databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and Snowflake.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices, and development guidelines.
  • Support application enhancements, defect resolution, and system modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, problem management, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with onsite and offshore teams to ensure successful project delivery and operational excellence.
  • Support deployment activities, infrastructure changes, and disaster recovery planning as needed.
  • Contribute to Agile development processes, sprint planning, and technical documentation.

What you will have

  • Requires a relevant degree in IT/Computer Science, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Requires 6 to 12 years of experience in software development and support.
  • Experience in development in relevant programming languages (preferrable Java); using relational databases (Oracle, SQLServer, DB2, Snowflake), and underlying infrastructure elements, and current development processes and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to lead a diverse and globally located team
  • The position requires the candidate to work a 5-a day -week schedule in the office.
