Job summary

Rockwell Automation in Pune invites an experienced IPP SW/FW Engineering Team Lead to guide software and firmware teams. You will align product roadmaps with delivery plans, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and drive secure, reliable embedded solutions.

The role is hybrid based in Pune Hinjewadi, reporting to Global Engineering Director - IPP, and requires leadership in Agile environments with a focus on engineering excellence and customer value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of software/firmware engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading/coaching engineers in product development environments.
  • Experience delivering industrial software or embedded firmware in complex engineered products.
  • Knowledge of software/firmware lifecycles, requirements, architecture, testing, and release processes.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Legal authorization to work in India.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Pune-based IPP software and firmware engineering teams with clear priorities and accountability.
  • Provide daily leadership for LVMCC Software Eng and MVB Firmware Eng teams, balancing people leadership with hands-on guidance.
  • Coach engineers on technical capability, career development, and collaboration.
  • Translate product roadmaps and customer needs into executable software/firmware plans and staffing priorities.
  • Support planning, remove impediments, manage cross-team dependencies, and drive predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Promote disciplined engineering practices across architecture, design, coding, testing, and release cycles.
  • Champion quality, cybersecurity, DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD in industrial software development.
  • Coordinate across distributed teams including hardware, systems, and product management.
  • Monitor project health, risks, and delivery performance; communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and capability development for Pune SW/FW org.

Position Summary
Job Summary

As the Intelligent Packaged Power (IPP) SW/FW Engineering Team Lead, you will lead the IPP software and firmware engineering resources based in Pune. Your scope will include the LVMCC Software Engineering Team and the MVB Firmware Engineering Team. You will combine people leadership, technical direction, and execution leadership to allow secure, reliable, and high-quality embedded firmware and industrial software solutions. You will work in partnership with the designated Scrum Masters. You will collaborate with global teams, including engineering, product management, quality, cybersecurity, test, and operations teams. These collaborations will align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver integrated solutions for IPP products and platforms.

You will report to the Global Engineering Director - IPP and will work in hybrid schedule based in Pune, Hinjewadi.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead the Pune-based IPP software and firmware engineering teams, creating clear priorities, engagement, accountability, and understanding of IPP goals.
  • Provide daily leadership for the LVMCC Software Engineering Team and MVB Firmware Engineering Team, balancing people leadership with hands-on technical guidance and delivery ownership.
  • Coach engineers in technical capability, career development, and professional growth while building a culture of inclusion, learning, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
  • Partner with global engineering leaders and product team members to translate product roadmaps and customer needs into executable software and firmware plans, staffing priorities, and delivery commitments.
  • Support planning and execution, remove organisational impediments, manage cross-team dependencies, and lead predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Promote disciplined engineering practices across architecture, requirements, design, coding, peer review, configuration management, verification, validation, release, and lifecycle support.
  • Champion quality, functional safety, product security, DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD practices appropriate for industrial software and embedded firmware development.
  • Coordinate across distributed teams, including hardware, systems, test, quality, cybersecurity, product management, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Monitor project health, capacity, technical risks, defects, and delivery performance; communicate clear status, decisions, trade-offs, and escalations to stakeholders.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, resource planning, succession planning, and capability development for the Pune SW/FW organization.
  • Guide reuse, common architectures, tools, and engineering methods across LVMCC and MVB while respecting product-specific technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster customer-focused innovation and identify opportunities to improve product value, engineering efficiency, maintainability, and speed to market.
The Essentials - You Will Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Electronic & Communication, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant software or firmware engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a team leadership, people leadership, technical leadership, or engineering management role.
  • Experience leading, coaching, software and/or firmware engineers in a product development environment.
  • Experience delivering industrial software, embedded firmware, controls, automation, power electronics, motor control, or other complex engineered products.
  • Working knowledge of modern software and firmware development lifecycles, requirements management, architecture, coding practices, testing, defect management, and release processes.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments with product owners and cross-functional engineering stakeholders.
  • Legal authorization to work in India.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
  • Experience leading both application software and embedded firmware teams.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage motor control centers, medium-voltage products, drives, motor control, power distribution, or industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, IntelliCENTER solutions, FactoryTalk software, Logix-based systems, or connected industrial products.
  • Experience with embedded C/C++, real-time operating systems, industrial communications, desktop or web application development, and software integration.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated build and test environments, source control, static analysis, and engineering metrics.
  • Knowledge of product cybersecurity, secure development lifecycle practices, functional safety, or relevant industrial standards.
  • Experience managing external partners, contractors, or globally distributed development teams.
  • Agile, project management, or engineering leadership certification.
