Job summary

Alten Group is seeking a skilled automotive interior trims designer to work on plastics components from ground-up design to production delivery using CATIA V5. The role requires collaboration with Design & Release Engineers and suppliers to ensure packaging, manufacturability, and assembly feasibility.

The ideal candidate will optimize concepts, align with global teams, and ensure adherence to program targets including cost, weight, quality, and timing.

Qualifications

• Experience in interior trim design and development for automotive applications.
• Ability to ground-up design of trims through detailed design and production delivery.
• Collaborate with Design & Release Engineers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Ground-up design of all plastics interior trim components.
• Create CAD models, assemblies and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
• Ensure designs meet packaging, DFM, DFA and design rule requirements.
• Establish manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor timelines and program targets for cost, weight, quality, and timing.

Job description

Conversant with Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub-Groups, Systems and Sub-Systems.

• Expertise in Interior Trims Design and Development – Plastic Interior Trims, Headliner and Soft Trim
• Ability to ground-up design of all trims (Plastics) components through detailed design and delivery into production.
• Functional expertise in design and development of interior trims aggregates and to take technical decisions with Design & Release Engineers and suppliers as required.
• Independently create CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
• Responsible for CAD models and associated drawings of components and assemblies in adherence with FORD procedures and standards.
• Ensure all designs meet packaging, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and design rule requirements.
• Establish manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility.
• Optimize concepts and designs.
• Collaborate closely with cross functional team to resolve technical issues.
• Engage in regular communication with global teams for design alignment and status reporting.
• Conversant with New Product Introduction process, its milestones and delivery success criteria for engineering.
• Monitor timelines and deliverables to ensure program targets (cost, weight, quality, timing) are met.
