Job summary

Saifee Hospital in Mumbai is seeking an experienced Intensivist to lead critical care for acutely ill patients. The role involves rapid assessment, decision-making for treatment and tests, and performing advanced procedures under supervision as needed.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, monitor patient progress, document care accurately, and mentor residents and fellows while contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives in the ICU.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment and Management: Evaluate and manage critically ill patients, making decisions about treatment, testing, and procedures.
• Advanced Procedures: Perform critical procedures like intubation, central line placement, and arterial line insertion.
• Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, etc.) to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Monitoring and Interpretation: Monitor patient progress closely, interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., blood gas analysis, ECG, etc.).
• Communication: Communicate effectively with patients and families about their condition and prognosis, as well as with other healthcare professionals.
• Education and Mentorship: Teach and mentor medical residents, fellows, and other staff.
• Research and Quality Improvement: Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• On-Call: Be available for on-call duties and emergencies.
• Interhospital Transfers: Managing the transfer of critically ill patients between hospitals.
• Pre-hospital Care: Providing advanced medical care outside the hospital setting, such as in ambulances or on helicopter transports.
• Military Medical Teams: Providing anesthesia and intensive care to trauma victims in military settings.
