Job summary

Cognizant in Chennai/Bangalore/Hyderabad/Pune seeks a Lead Software Engineer (Java, Bigdata + Vulnerability Remediation) with 6+ years of experience to join a global tech team. You will work across development, QA and BA units to analyze, design, develop and test systems supporting Equity Value operations.

You will leverage Java/J2EE, SQL/PL-SQL, Python/Scala and Spark on AWS to identify and remediate vulnerabilities, build scalable data pipelines, and optimize performance while collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years IT experience in application development and support.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE and AI tools usage.
• Proficiency in SQL/PL-SQL and at least one of Python/Scala.
• Big data/cloud skills: Spark (Scala/Python/Java) and AWS.
• Familiarity with vulnerability remediation and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

• Engineer a development process for Equity value stream platforms to identify, fix and test vulnerabilities.
• Use AI tools to accelerate remediation and deliver fixes within SLA.
• Participate in coding, testing, debugging & documentation.
• Perform application and system performance tuning and troubleshoot issues.
• Build OO applications and apply design patterns.

The Role: Lead Software Engineer (Java, Bigdata + Vulnerability Remediation)

Job Location: Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune

Experience: Minimum 6+ years

Must have skills: Java, J2EE, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Scala, Spark, AWS, Vulnerability Remediation

The Team: You will be part of global technology team comprising of Dev, QA and BA teams and will be responsible for analysis, design, development, and testing

The Impact: You will be working on core technology platforms responsible for supporting the operations carried out under Equity Value Stream.

Responsibilities:

• Engineer a development process for the platforms of the Equity value stream, to identify, fix and test the vulnerabilities across code, libraries, etc.
• Use available AI tools to expediate the remediation of the vulnerabilities identified and deliver the fix within the defined SLA.
• Participate in multiple software development processes including Coding, Testing, De-bugging & Documentation.
• Perform Application & System Performance tuning and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Build applications with object-oriented concepts and apply design patterns.
• Integrate in-house applications with various vendor software platforms.
• Setup development environment / sandbox for application development.
• Check-in application code changes into the source repository.
• Perform unit testing of application code and fix errors.
• Interface with databases to extract information and build reports.
• Effectively interact with customers, business users and IT staff.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience.
• 7 to 10 years of IT experience in application development and support.
• Strong Experience with Use of AI tools, Java and J2EE.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in minimum one of following.
  • Advanced SQL, PL/SQL programming
  • Advanced Python
  • Advanced Scala
• Big data / Cloud skills (minimum 1 of following)
  • Spark using SCALA / Python/java and HDFS
  • Good understanding of AWS cloud (EC2, EMR, Lambda, S3, Glue, etc.)
• Infrastructure/CICD related skills (minimum 1 of following)
  • Basic networking knowledge / Unix scripting
  • Ansible/Jenkins
  • Exposure to addressing Vulnerabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with large datasets in Equity, Commodities, Forex, Futures and Options asset classes.
• Experience with Index/Benchmarks or Asset Management or Trading platforms.
• Basic Knowledge of User Interface design & development using jQuery, HTML5 & CSS.
