Job Description:

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Industrial Quality Engineer in Coimbatore we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your quality management expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and detail-oriented teammates.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring product and process quality, directly contributing to our mission of delivering safe and reliable mobility solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (e.g., production, engineering, supply chain), analyze defects per unit and external demerits, and support critical decision-making for handovers. You’ll also lead quality-related activities such as FAR (Failure Analysis Reporting) and participate in FMR/SMR (First Manufacturing Review/Serial Manufacturing Review).

You’ll specifically take care of implementing and regularly updating Quality Control Plans during pre- and serial-manufacturing activities, but also ensure compliance of manufactured products before shipping.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing Industrial Quality (IQ) activities in the relevant workshop, including people, process, and performance.

  • Performing defect analysis and leading efficient line quality animation with cross-functional teams.

  • Stopping production if required for mandatory reasons (e.g., safety concerns).

  • Participating in Criticality Matrix analysis and contributing to Process FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

  • Ensuring the availability of the Product History Book and compliance of manufactured products.

  • Supporting and managing internal NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) using problem-solving methodologies.

  • Participating in customer inspections and qualifying manufacturing teams for self-inspection.

  • Performing workstation audits and inspections as required.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical, or equivalent).

  • Experience or understanding of industrial processes and quality management.

  • Knowledge of quality standards (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, etc.) and quality tools.

  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings/specifications and using test equipment.

  • A Special Process Qualification (minimum Level 2 according to Quality Academy criteria).

  • Experience in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., QRQC, Lean Six Sigma).

  • International mindset and fluency in English.

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and handle pressure effectively.

  • Railway industry experience is a plus.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling.

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.

  • Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility.

  • Utilise our inclusive and flexible working environment.

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs.

  • Progress towards leadership roles or specialized expertise in quality management.

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension).

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
