Job summary

The Souled Store seeks a Chartered Accountant to drive GST compliance, filing and reconciliation across multiple GSTINs from its Mumbai operations.

The role requires 4–8 years in indirect tax, strong analytics and experience with audits and litigation. You will coordinate with auditors, manage e-invoicing, e-way bills and refunds, ensuring timely filings and strong controls.

Qualifications

• CA with 4–8 years of experience in Indirect Taxation (GST, VAT, Customs).
• Strong knowledge of GST compliance, return filing, and reconciliation.
• Experience in handling indirect tax audits, assessments, and litigation.
• Good understanding of tax laws, amendments, and regulatory updates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and file GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-6 (ISD) across all GSTINs within due dates.
• Prepare and file the annual return GSTR-9 and reconciliation GSTR-9C with auditors.
• Compute monthly output liability, ITC availment and net cash payout; manage ledgers and payments.
• Verify and reconcile e-invoicing and e-way bill compliance, including exception reporting.
• Maintain registrations and LUT renewals for exports; file refund claims (RFD-01).
• Maintain a central compliance calendar and documentation trail for every filing.
• Track notices, assessments and litigation; draft replies and coordinate with counsel.
• Provide MIS on liability trends, ITC availed vs available, refunds and litigation status.

Job description

• Prepare, review and file GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-6 (ISD), across all GSTINs within statutory due dates.
• Prepare and file the annual return GSTR-9 and reconciliation statement GSTR-9C, including coordination with statutory auditors.
• Compute monthly output liability, ITC availment and net cash payout; manage the electronic cash and credit ledgers and make payments (PMT-06 / DRC-03).
• Verify and reconcile e-invoicing (IRN generation, cancellations, failures) and e-way bill compliance, including exception reporting.
• Maintain new registrations, amendments, additional places of business, ISD registration and LUT renewals for exports.
• File refund claims (RFD-01) for exports, inverted duty structure and excess balance in cash ledger; track status to credit.
• Maintain a central compliance calendar and evidence/documentation trail for every filing.

2. Reconciliations

• GSTR-2B vs purchase register: monthly ITC reconciliation, identification of mismatches, ageing of unmatched credit and structured vendor follow-up for non-filers or incorrect filings.
• GSTR-1 vs GSTR-3B vs books: turnover, tax and rate-wise reconciliation; resolution of differences before annual return.
• Books vs financial statements: turnover and tax reconciliation for GSTR-9C, including credit notes, discounts, scrap sales, cross-charges and schedule-III items.
• Marketplace / e-commerce: reconciliation of TCS credit (GSTR-2X / marketplace reports) and platform-reported sales against the internal sales register.
• GL reconciliation: monthly tie-out of all GST control accounts (output, input, RCM, cash ledger, credit ledger) to returns and portal balances.
• Compute and document reversals under Rule 37 (180-day non-payment), Rules 42/43 (exempt/common credits) and blocked credits under Section 17(5).

3. Accounting & Controls

• Own GST-related general ledger accounts through month-end close, including provisions, accruals and reclassifications.
• Maintain tax masters in the ERP — HSN/SAC codes, rate masters, tax codes, place-of-supply logic — and validate correct tax determination on transactions.
• Identify and discharge reverse charge (RCM) liabilities; ensure self-invoicing where applicable.
• Validate vendor and customer GSTIN masters; drive vendor compliance scorecards to protect ITC.
• Strengthen process controls and documentation to make filings audit-ready; drive automation of recurring reconciliations.

4. Notices, Assessments & Litigation

• Track all departmental communications across GSTINs in a central litigation register with status, exposure and due dates.
• Draft and file replies to scrutiny notices (ASMT-10), intimations (DRC-01A), show cause notices (DRC-01) and general enquiries; compile supporting data and reconciliations.
• Manage departmental audits (ADT-01) and anti-evasion enquiries — data requests, walkthroughs and closure of observations.
• Prepare and file appeals (APL-01), coordinate with external counsel and consultants, and attend personal hearings.
• Quantify exposures and support contingent liability disclosures and provisioning decisions.

5. Advisory & Business Partnering

• Advise on GST implications of new products, channels, contracts, pricing structures, warehouse locations, imports/exports and inter-company transactions.
• Review commercial contracts for tax clauses, place of supply, and indemnity language.
• Track notifications, circulars, council decisions and key judicial rulings; assess business impact and drive implementation.
• Train AP, AR, procurement and supply-chain teams on documentation and compliance requirements.

6. Audit & Reporting

• Support statutory, internal, tax and cost audits on all indirect tax matters.
• Provide monthly MIS to management: liability trend, ITC availed vs available, ITC at risk, refund pipeline, litigation status.
