Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience with SDLC of enterprise-class products, microservices architecture, cloud computing, containers technology, and cloud-scale design.
• Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager in software products development environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics or electrical engineering.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business language.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager with a strong background in Cloud based Software development using C# & Java to lead and deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget. The Software Engineering Manager, is an integral part of the H&P India Software Engineering Group and will successfully and consistently plan, execute, monitor, and deliver impactful and strategically aligned projects at Helmerich & Payne. The Software Engineering Manager partners with the Electrical & Controls, Product Management, IT Infrastructure & Digital Operations teams to determine strategic direction and communicate that to all key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management, Electrical Engineering, IT Infrastructure, Operations, and other technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Provide technical and people leadership to a team of experienced R&D Software Engineers responsible for developing, testing, and deploying high-quality enterprise software products and systems using technologies such as C#, Java, and cloud platforms including Kubernetes, GCP, and Microsoft Azure.
• Apply strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), programming concepts, and technical dependencies to make informed engineering and delivery decisions.
• Promote innovation by Identify, evaluate new technologies and drive adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-powered software development tools, automation, and productivity improvements to enhance engineering effectiveness.
• Partner with architects and senior engineers to define and evolve software architecture that enables scalability, maintainability, reliability, and rapid delivery of future capabilities.
• Promote engineering excellence through design reviews, coding standards, best practices, technical debt management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure software solutions are designed with security, performance, reliability, and operational readiness in mind.
• Encourage short feedback loops and iterative development practices to accelerate value delivery and respond quickly to changing business needs.
• Utilize engineering and delivery metrics to improve predictability, quality, and team effectiveness, including Velocity, Burndown Charts, Cycle Time & Lead Time & Quality Metrics i.e. defect trends, escape defect defects, test coverage, automation coverage.
• Build a high-performing engineering culture through coaching, mentoring, career development, performance feedback, and continuous learning opportunities.
• Utilize a Servant Leadership mindset by empowering teams, removing blockers, and enabling engineers to deliver value efficiently.
• Organize, manage, and execute projects by establishing clear objectives, measurable key results, and effective execution strategies.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps to enable high-tempo software delivery.
• Partner with Quality Engineering teams to improve automation, defect prevention, and overall product quality.

Required Skills & Education:

• Requires bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager in software Products development environments.
• 15+ years of experience with significant depth in SDLC of enterprise-class products, microservices architecture, cloud computing, containers technology, and cloud-scale design.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to manage shifting priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
