Job summary

Indexnine Technologies is seeking an Engineering Manager to own end-to-end project delivery with direct client interaction. The ideal candidate has grown from Tech Lead to leadership and will guide small to mid-sized engagements while remaining hands-on with architecture and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities include technical leadership, delivery management, client engagement, and building a high-performing team, leveraging Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and modern stack (Node.js, React, Angular, Java).

Qualifications

• 9+ years of overall experience in software development and delivery.
• Engineering Manager role for at least last 1 year.
• 2-3 years of experience as a Tech Lead before moving into project management.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and Jira.
• Experience with AI tools in software development (Cursor, Claude code, etc.).

Responsibilities

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will carry the responsibility of end to end delivery of projects. The ideal profile is one who has grown through the ranks, played the role of a Tech Lead and is now leading small to mid sized projects.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to scale their career in Project execution, having direct interactions with Customers, while remaining in touch with core technology and providing technical guidance and supporting the team in solving complex problems.

Roles & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction to the team on technical architecture, design decisions, and best practices.


• Participate in solutioning discussions with clients and internal architects.


• Review code, unblock critical technical challenges, and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Project & Delivery Management

• Own project delivery timelines, budget, quality, and team coordination.


• Define delivery plans, track progress, manage dependencies & risk proactively.


• Drive daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.


• Drive delivery metrics to ensure zero surprise delivery.

Client Engagement

• Act as the primary interface for clients on project status, priorities, escalations.


• Understand Business objectives and drive decisions aligned to Client goals.


• Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to grow the account.

Engineering & DevOps Excellence

• Ensure Agile processes are followed (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).


• Ensure adherence to DevOps practices and standard engineering processes for high-quality, maintainable, and reliable delivery.

Team Management

• Responsible for managing the day to day tasks and deliverables of the team.


• Help build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence while keeping the team :


• 9+ years of overall experience in software development and delivery.


• Playing a Engineering Manager role for at least last 1 year.


• At least 2-3 years of experience as a Tech Lead before moving into project management.


• Strong hands-on understanding of software architecture, full-stack development, and common frameworks (e.g. Node.js, React, Angular, Java etc.).


• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and project tracking tools (e.g., Jira).


• Experience working in an IT services environment in the Digital Engineering space (i.e. designing and building bespoke products/solutions).


• Must have worked with the latest AI tools in the software development space and used AI IDEs like Cursor, Claude code etc.
