Job summary

The Hartford India is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to help build and scale AI platform capabilities, focusing on GenAI, ML, and full‑stack development. You will collaborate with Data Architecture, Cloud Services, and Engineering teams to implement core platform features in a scalable, secure manner.

Ideal candidates hold a CS degree with hands-on experience in Python/Java, cloud platforms, Terraform, and modern ML frameworks; SAFe and strong communication are a plus.

Qualifications

• Cloud platforms: GCP, AWS, Azure.
• Terraform IaC experience required.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Cloud Services, and other enterprise teams to efficiently implement AI platform components.
• Develop core AI platform capabilities.
• Build strong engineering expertise in platform functionality, AI, ML, Agentic Frameworks, and modern data technologies.
• Execute engineering tasks, drive execution, and optimize workflows under guidance.
• Support research, experimentation, and implementation of suitable GenAI algorithms, tools, and technologies.
• Identify and assess opportunities, such as new data sources, analytical techniques, and technology, to ensure ongoing competitive advantage and alignment with industry best practices.
• Explore new services and capabilities in AWS and Google Cloud Platformto support GenAI and ML services.
• Provide occasional mentorship and thought leadership to junior engineers and peers.
• Collaborate lightly with internal and external technical and business teams on best practices and architecture.
• Review work with senior engineers and project leads on an ongoing basis to calibrate deliverables against project expectations.
• Participate in collaboration with internal and external technical and business teams on best practices and architecture.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or related fields.
• Experience with Bachelor’s degree or less than 2 years accepted with advanced engineering degree & applied academic or internship experience/hands-on working experience with a strong focus on GenAI, ML, or full-stack software development
• Ability to collaborate with engineering leads on the design, development, and scaling of large platforms, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security.
• Hands-on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure
• Hands-on experience building IaC scripts with Terraform.
• Development experience with programming languages such as Python, Java or equivalent
• Experience with ML frameworks, i.e., TensorFlow, Anaconda, Scikit-Learn, SageMaker, Agentic AI, and Vertex AI.
• Experience with Agentic Productivity tools like Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or OpenAI Codex is a plus.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Automated Testing, Automated Deployments, Unit Testing and Integration tools.Ability to collaborate and partner with business leaders and IT/Data Science teams
• Agile and SAFe experience is a MUST.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience enabling services such as Gemini Enterprise, Amazon Q, MSFT Copilot, and similar services to enterprise is a plus.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrate a willingness to challenge the status quo and a bias for action, driving innovation and excellence in AI platform development.
