Job summary

FedEx Logistics in Mumbai, India seeks a Senior Agent- Transportation to manage and coordinate transportation operations within our Supply Chain and 3PL function. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or 3PL operations.
• Experience with 3PL/contract logistics companies and transportation vendors in India.
• Strong understanding of transportation and distribution operations.
• Proficiency with ERP/TMS systems and MS Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and vendor-management skills.

Sr. Agent, Supply Chain Operations(Transportation)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Agent- Transportation to manage and coordinate transportation operations as part of our Supply Chain and 3rd-Party Contract Logistics (3PL) function. The role will be responsible for ensuring smooth, timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods through transportation partners and logistics service providers. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in transportation planning, 3PL operations, transporter/vendor management, shipment tracking, delivery performance, cost control, and operational issue resolution. The candidate will work closely with internal Supply Chain, Warehouse, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, and external logistics partners to ensure high service levels.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Operations

• Manage day-to-day transportation activities, including primary and secondary transportation movements.


• Coordinate with 3PL partners, transporters, fleet operators, and other logistics service providers.


• Plan and monitor vehicle placement, shipment dispatch, route allocation, and delivery schedules.


• Ensure timely pickup and delivery of shipments in line with agreed SLA/KPI requirements.


• Monitor shipment status and proactively identify and resolve delays, route deviations, vehicle issues, and delivery exceptions.


• Ensure proper documentation for transportation movements, including e-way bills, PODs, invoices, delivery documents, and other statutory requirements.

3PL & Vendor Management

• Manage operational relationships with third-party logistics and transportation service providers.


• Monitor transporter performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs.


• Conduct regular performance reviews with logistics partners and drive corrective actions.


• Coordinate with vendors for vehicle availability, capacity planning, service issues, and operational escalations.


• Support evaluation and onboarding of new transportation vendors as required.

Cost & Performance Management

• Validate transportation bills, freight charges, accessorial charges, and supporting documentation.

• Coordinate with transporters to address compliance, safety, and operational risks.


• Escalate critical operational or compliance issues to management in a timely manner.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve transportation processes, service levels, and cost efficiency.


• Drive initiatives related to route optimization, load consolidation, vehicle utilization, automation, and process standardization.


• Participate in logistics and supply chain improvement projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.


• 5–7 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or 3PL operations.


• Experience working with 3PL/contract logistics companies and transportation vendors in India.


• Strong understanding of transportation and distribution operations.


• Good knowledge of Indian transportation practices, documentation, and statutory requirements.


• Experience with ERP/TMS/ systems and MS Excel.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and vendor-management skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in FMCG, Retail, E-commerce, Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Automotive, Pharma, or other distribution-intensive industries.


• Experience managing multiple transporters and logistics partners.


• Exposure to contract logistics, freight management, route planning, and transportation cost analysis.


• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and supply chain analytics.


• Experience handling high-volume shipments and time-sensitive deliveries.
