Job description

Introduction:
System Administrators are the gatekeepers to the many systems that run our company and our clients. As a System Admin with IBM, you will have the opportunity to provide high-value IT services and leverage our leading-edge technology portfolio in our global network. Your work has a direct impact on the day-to-day productivity of our business by ensuring integrity of, and access to, our most important resource: data.

Your Role and Responsibilities:
As a Network Engineer, you are expected to work on Networking products or solutions based on any vendor hardware/vendor operating system software (i.e., vendor agnostic) with little or minimum support from superiors. Typical examples of the other deliverables would be of deploying, managing and implementing networking solutions to address client business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  2. Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
  3. Testing and configuring software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices
  4. Monitor network performance and integrity
  5. Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting MPLS and local infrastructure
  6. Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  7. Mentor team members on technical issues
  8. Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
  9. Communicate with users when needed
  10. Maintain complete technical documentation
  11. Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
  12. Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
  13. Responsible for Network Documentation using Visio Tools, MS-Power Point
  14. Configuration and Troubleshooting of routes, VLAN, QoS
  15. Cisco IOS security features and knowledge of security vulnerabilities, threats and attacks

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  1. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure Domain
  2. Professional certification (CCIE R&S/DC/SP Lab certified)
  3. Solid background in network administration, monitoring and architecture
  4. In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g., MPLS, BGP, OSPF)
  5. Demonstrable experience in Routing and Switching concept (Cisco)
  6. Ability to produce RCA of Severity incidents impacting network with minimum support from Superiors/Seniors within team
  7. Hands-on experience – Hardware Module, Installation, Configuration, Troubleshooting for the following listed Routers and Switches
  8. Routers: Cisco ASR 9010, ASR 9006, ISR 4331, ISR 4351
  9. Switches: Nexus NK-C9516, N9K-C93180YC-FX, Nexus 1000v
  10. Familiarity with access control models and network security
  11. Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds network tools)
  12. Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS)
  13. Sharp troubleshooting skills
  14. Ability to work independently
  15. Organizational and mentoring skills
  16. In-depth experience in configuring and managing Datacentre Cisco Nexus Switches (5K, 7K, 9k)
  17. In-depth experience in configuring and managing Datacentre Cisco ASR routers (ASR9K)
  18. Knowledge on how BSNL/MTNL infrastructure works for their customers’ WAN links.

  1. Having completed CCIE lab certification
