  • Serve as the main contact between the school and the IBO.
  • Guide students, parents, and staff in understanding DP structure, subject choices, and university pathways.
  • Communicate IB regulations, procedures, and assessment requirements to stakeholders.
  • Lead parent and student orientation sessions for new entrants to the DP.
  • Work with subject teachers, heads of department, and core component coordinators to ensure DP standards and practices.
  • Oversee articulation between Secondary to DP and ensure scheduling and curriculum coherence.
  • Administer internal and external DP assessments per IB rules and deadlines; manage access arrangements; register candidates and oversee examination procedures.
  • Ensure academic honesty policies are upheld across the programme.
  • Work with CAS, TOK, and Extended Essay coordinators to ensure DP core coherence.
  • Organize IB-authorized professional development for DP staff; lead internal training and PLCs.
  • Support new teachers’ induction into IB philosophy and DP requirements.
  • Lead the authorization process and five-year self-study; coordinate input from teachers, students, parents, and admins.
  • Compile evidence and reports for IB submissions and ensure resource adequacy for delivery.
  • Support students’ university applications and liaise with higher education institutions about IB recognition.
  • Promote intercultural understanding and international-mindedness through CAS and community outreach.

Job Title: Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator

Reports to: Head of School / Principal

Member of: School Leadership Team

Position Overview

The DP Coordinator is a key pedagogical leader responsible for implementing, managing, and developing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in alignment with IB philosophy, mission, and standards. The coordinator ensures that the DP is effectively administered, supported by staff, and embedded within the school’s culture of international-mindedness and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Programme Implementation
  • Provide pedagogical and strategic leadership in developing and sustaining the Diploma Programme.
  • Ensure that the IB philosophy and learner profile are embedded across all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to plan and manage changes required for the programme’s ongoing development.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the school and the IBO.
2. Communication and Guidance
  • Guide students, parents, and staff in understanding DP structure, subject choices, and university pathways.
  • Communicate IB regulations, procedures, and assessment requirements to all stakeholders.
  • Lead parent and student orientation sessions for new entrants to the DP.
  • Work collaboratively with subject teachers, heads of department, and core component coordinators (TOK, CAS, EE) to ensure consistent implementation of DP standards and practices.

  • Ensure concurrency of learning through effective scheduling and curriculum design.
4. Assessment Administration
  • Administer internal and external DP assessments in compliance with IB regulations and deadlines. Arrange access arrangements if any required.
  • Register candidates, manage IBIS data entry, and oversee examination procedures.
  • Ensure academic honesty policies are upheld across the programme.
5. Supporting the DP Core
  • Work closely with CAS, TOK, and Extended Essay coordinators to ensure integration and coherence of the DP core.
  • Facilitate collaboration between TOK teachers and subject teachers.
6. Professional Development and Teacher Support
  • Organize and promote IB-authorized professional development for DP staff.
  • Lead internal training and professional learning communities focused on best teaching practices and assessment consistency.
  • Support new teachers’ induction into the IB philosophy and DP requirements.
7. Programme Evaluation and Compliance
  • Lead the school through all stages of the IB authorization process
  • Develop and maintain the school’s action plan for authorization, aligning it with school improvement goals.
  • After authorization, oversee the five-year self-study and programme evaluation, coordinating input from teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
  • Compile evidence, reflections, and reports required for submission to the IB, ensuring compliance with all expectations.
  • Ensure resource adequacy for programme delivery.
8. Student Progression and University Liaison
  • Support students in university applications and communicate with higher education institutions regarding IB recognition.
  • Maintain alumni and results databases for programme improvement and tracking outcomes.
9. Promoting International-Mindedness
  • Foster intercultural understanding and global engagement within and beyond the classroom.
  • Encourage student and teacher participation in CAS and community outreach that align with the IB mission.
