Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, secure and automate cloud platforms across Azure and other clouds. You will work with service owners to deploy solutions in a global Hub-and-Spoke Azure environment, leveraging Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps pipelines.

The role requires strong Azure IaaS expertise, IaC mastery, and experience in governance, security, and multi-cloud integrations.

Qualifications

• >5 years of Azure infrastructure experience with IaC.
• >2 years with Cloud Architecture Framework/Azure Enterprise Scale/Landing zones.
• >2 years Azure DevOps for versioning, coding, deployment pipelines.
• Proficiency with PowerShell/Azure Cmdlets and/or Azure CLI.
• Experience with on-premises tech, servers, storage, networking.
• Microsoft Azure certifications including Azure Fundamentals.
• Familiarity with ITIL and security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, secure and automate cloud platforms, enabling fast deployments with guardrails.
• Define and maintain reference architectures for Cloud and Hybrid environments.
• Improve observability, detection and alerting with cloud-native services.
• Enforce governance using Policy, RBAC, management groups and tagging.
• Support cloud migration and modernization (on-prem to Cloud, hybrid models).
• Create and manage Azure DevOps pipelines; troubleshoot failures.
• Mentor team members in Azure DevOps and IaC practices.
• Promote automation-first, least privilege, and zero trust in cloud ops.
• Collaborate with security and application teams to remediate incidents.
• Contribute to platform roadmaps, docs and runbooks.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to design, secure and automate our cloud platforms as well as supporting our developer community. The role is critical in reducing time to deploy while providing secure boundaries and guardrails for AtkinsRealis developers in Azure and other cloud deployments

The role involves working with service owners to deploy solutions in a global Hub and Spoke Azure environment deployed under Microsoft's Cloud Architecture Framework using Enterprise Scale Architecture which has been deployed via Infrastructure as Code.

Your role

• Hybrid Cloud
• Understand of Azure IaaS, including but not limited to.
• Understanding of hosting virtual machines on the Azure platform, including deployment, connectivity, patching, monitoring and images.
• Understanding of networking on the Azure platform including Private Endpoints, Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups and connectivity via S2S VPNs and ExpressRoute.
• Understanding of Storage service on the Azure platform including Blob, File, Recovery Vaults and Site recovery.
• Experience of IaaS in another global Hyperscaler (AWS, OCI, GCP) in addition to Microsoft Azure.
• Define and maintain reference architectures for Cloud and Hybrid environments, platform standards and user guides.
• Improve observability, detection and alerting using built in services to the cloud platform.
• Enforce governance using Policy, management groups, RBAC, and tagging standards.
• Experience of on-premises infrastructure technologies, servers, storage and networking.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives (on premises to Cloud, hybrid models).
• Infrastructure as Code/DevSecOps
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code, why it's'used and common deployment techniques.
• Using Azure DevOps to deploy and update Cloud services via Infrastructure as Code.
• Create new Azure DevOps pipelines and troubleshoot when pipelines fail.
• Mentor and upskill team members in the use of Azure DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.
• Promote automation first, least privilege, and zero trust principles across cloud operations.
• Work closely with security team and application teams to remediate support incidents.
• Provide guidance on best practices including optimizing environments for cost, performance, reliability, and security posture.
• Continuously improve processes, automation, delivery and reporting capabilities.
• Contribute to platform roadmaps, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor and mentor to infrastructure and application teams.
• Ensure environments meet internal security standards and regulatory obligations.

About You

• 5+ years of experience in Azure infrastructure, with at least 2 years involved with Infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated experience with Cloud Architecture Framework/Azure Enterprise Scale/Landing zones.
• 2+ years of Azure DevOps experience, working with versioning, code control and deployment pipelines.
• Proficiency with PowerShell Azure Cmdlets and/or Azure CLI.
• Experience of on-premises technologies, virtual machines, storage solutions
• Experience of Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2019+)
• Experience of other Global HyperScalers in addition to Microsoft Azure
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Microsoft Azure certifications: Azure Fundamentals
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with ITIL, security frameworks, or enterprise service delivery models.
• Microsoft Azure Bicep/AWS CloudFormation deployments
• Cloud based Virtual WAN knowledge beneficial
• Cloud Application Gateway and Web Application Firewall including OWASP rules
• Experience of PaaS solutions in addition to IaaS
• Experience of working in a Macro/Micro segmentation environment
• Relevant certifications or suitable demonstrable experience is highly desirable.
